1969-06-24 Regular Adjourned 1161 June 24, 1969 The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular adjourned session at the City Hall on the above date at 5:30 P. M. with the following presant: President Gardner, Councilman Hunt and Padgett with Clerk Spivey. Pursuant to notice published in the Okeechobee News regarding a public hearing to consider re- zoning from ~qesidential (R-l) to Commercial Lots 7, 8, 9, 10, ll and 12, Block 142, Original Town of Okeechobee, President Gardner asked if their were any objections. No objection was heard or filed, therefore, Councilman Padgett moved to rezone the above described property, presenting the following Ordinance and moved its adoption and upon being seconded by Councilman Hunt was put to a vote and unanimously adopted: ORDINANCE NO. 271 - (53) ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 271, BEING AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING ZONING REGULATIONS FOR THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA, AND PROVIDING FOR THE ADMINSTRATION, ENFORCEMENT AND AMENDMENT THEREOF PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 176, FLORIDA STATUTES, 1953. WHEREAS, application has been made by Curtiss Kicliter, requesting this Council to rezone from Residential (R-I) to Commercial Lots 7, 8, 9, 10, ll and 12, Block 1~2, Original. Town of 0keechobee, and WHEREAS, notice of intention to amend City Zoning Ordinance No. 271, regarding said application was duly published according to law, and WHEREAS, on the 24th day of June, 1969, a public hearing was held in the City Council room pursuant to said notice, and WP~E~RF~S, it is deemed to the best interest of the City of Okeechobee to grant said application; now therefore BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF 0KEECHCBEE, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. That Lots 7, 8, 9, 10, ll and 12, Block 142, Original Town of Okee- chobee, be and are hereby rezoned from Residential (R-l) to Commercial effective June 24th, 1969. SECTION 2. That the application requesting rezoning and proof of publication to amend Zoning Ordinance No. 271 published in connection with the above apolication be attached to this Ordinance and become a part hereof. SECTION 3. That the City Clerk make the appropriate change on the City Zoning Map in accordance with this Ordinance. PASSED and ADOPTED this 24th day of June, 1969. The Council authorized the notice of public hearing to be published in ,. Okeechobee News to consider closing said alley and street. 1162 NOTICE NOTICE is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, will at their regular meeting, July 8, 1969, consider vacating, discontinuing and closing the following alleyway and street: That part of that certain alleyway located in Block 53 of the City of Okeechobee, according to the map thereof and recorded in the Public Records of Okeechobee County, Florida. Bounded on the East by Lots i through 5, bounded on the West by Lots 9 through 15 of said Block 53. Those parts of 14th Street and Riverside Drive of the City of 0keechobee according to the map thereof, recorded in the Public Records of Okeechobee County, Florida, lying within the following description: Commence at the NE Corner of Block 54 of the City of Okeechobee and proceed in a easterly direction along the South Boundary of 14th Street and the North Boundary of Block 53 to the West Boundary of Taylor Creek; thence, proceed in a Northwesterly direction along the West Boundary of Taylor Creek to the 8outh Boundary of the Sea- Board Coastline Railroad Co., R. M. with the following present: Mayor Dunham, President Gardner, Councilman Breland, Hunt, Padgett and Walker with Clerk Spivey. Minutes of the meetings held June 3 and 24, 1969 were read and approved as read. John Thomas, President of Americable Inc. was present requesting permit to install cable T. V. in Okeechobee submitting Brochure for the Council's study. Matter to be studied by Attorney and Council. Pearl Godwin reported the need of a new heavy duty washing machine for City Hall (jail use) presenting the following prices: Elliott Applicance $239.00 Westinghouse Badcock Furh. Co. 329.00 Maytag Gilbert Culbreth ~1~.95 Maytag (less 10% cash discount) After discussion, consideration and recommendation of Mrs. Godwin, Councilman Hunt moved to purchase washing machine from Gilbert Culbreth at $310.95 less 10% cash discount, seconded by Councilman Padgett and unanimously carried. James Godwin, Assistant Fire Chief appeared with R. V. Murphy, District Ranger of the Forest Service, submitting a cooperative equi~ent lease for a truck to be used in fire department. The Council agreed to meet and inspect truck when Mr. Murphy notifies Council of date. Chief Godwin requested new tires for 1949 Ford Fire Truck, stating the truck had original tires on it. The Council agreed for Chief Godwin to get several prices on tires and report to Council. Chief Godwiu requested a small mowing machine for City Hall grounds. The Council authorized Chief Godwin to get several prices on mowing machines and report to Council. Requests for water line extension on Jefferson Street requiring approximately 250 feet of 2 inch pipe and West 10th Street requiring approximately__ ~]~ of I inch pipe was reported. Both request were
