Mr. Cramer, Mr. Baker and Mr. Campbell, residents of N. W. lOth Street and N. W. llth Street were prevent ddscussing n drainage problem in said area, stating the need of a culvert under railroad. After discussion the Council requested Supt. ~J~lliams to contact the County and .~tate Road Maintenance Deoartments 2ud endea~or to work out the drainage problem in above area. R. ~. Hsmrick appeared before the Council presenting a petition signed by adjoining property o~uaers, requestin~ the City Council to close all that part of Cherokee Street lying South of Fifth Avenue except tho,~e portions of said streets that ~ntersects with Fourth Street, Third Street and Second Street. Mr. Hamrick also stated he had agreed to deed one-half of street right-of-way to each ad,pining property owners. After discussion Councilman Padgett moved to publish notice on public hearing for the purpose of considering said Petition, seconded by Councilman Breland and unanimously carried. NOTI CE NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, has received a Petition requesting that the City Council officially close that part of Cherokee Street lying South of Fifth Avenue, except those portions of said Street that intersects with Fourth Street, Third Street and Second Street. A public hearing will be held at the City Hall, Tuesday, May 6, 1969 at 8 o' clock P. R. E. Hayrick discussed the deplorable condition of buildings on property located Lots !, 2 and ~, Block 2lb, requesting the City to investigate this matter. The Council referred matter to Mayor Dunhs~ and Building Inspector White. Douglas Casse!s appeared before the Council regarding excessive meter reading at previous residept 609 N. E. 12th Street, requesting an adjustment. The Council felt they did not have sufficien ~nfermation on subject at this time, therefore, matter referred to workshop meeting. Co~ncilman Walker reported a request from John Golf for water line extension to property located south of South Park Street on 7th Street and Chokaloskee Street. Supt. Fortner reported it would require approximately 600 feet of pipe to make the extension. Councilman Walker moved to grant request and make extension provided Mr. Golf pays taopage fees for two houses, seconded by Councilman Pad~_ett and carried. Ce,ncilman Breland requested information on dog pickup agreement between City and County. Attorney Hen~ry stated the agreement that he prepared had never been signed by the County or City. The Council agreed to investigate situation. ~vor Punham discussed with the Council the possibility of getting water in parks east of Os~eola Etreet. Supt. Fortner reported it would require approximately ?hO feet of pipe to connect to nearest water main. The Council referred matter to Mayor Dunhs~ and Supt. Fortner for further ~ nvestigation. ~.~-t. Fortner reported the need of a new carbon chemical feeder stating the approximate cost at $1,h~l. O0. Councilm~n Wa!~er recommended that Supt. Fortner get several prices on above machine. .... President Pro-Tom Hunt asked if their were any objections to the re-zoning. Nick ~oromei, Curtis Kicliter, Charles Campbell and Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Kerby were present and voiced their objections. After a lengbty discussion Councilman Walker moved to deny request until such time the owner submits a definite use of Drooerty, seconded by Cmmcilman Breland and unanimously carried. ~urther discussion followed with Mr. Reams, local realator requesting an extension of time to contact the owners for something definite on use of property. In view of the request Councilman Walker with- drew motion. CounciLman Walker moved to table action for a period of 30 days in order for the owner to submit definite ~ntended use of property, seconded by Councilman Breland and carried. Pursuant to notice published in Okeechobee News re~arding a public hearing to consider re- zoning from Residential. (P,-1) to Commercial the N. 60 feet of Lots 10, 11 and 12 of Block lhl, Original Town cf Okeeahobee, President Pro-Tom H~mt asked if their were any objections. No objections were heard or filed.
