Councilman Hunt presented the following Resolution and moved its adoption and upon ~eing
seconded ~y Councilman Walker was put to a vote and unanimously adopted:
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, sitting as a
board of canvassers, has canvassed the returns of the General City Election held
December 3, 1968, and

WHEREAS, E. H. Hunt and Charles Breland received the highest number of votes
for Councilmen and Carlisle Thomas received the highest number of votes for Chief
of Police.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that E. H. Hunt and Charles L. Breland be,
and they are hereby declared elected for four (4) years as City Councilmen; and
that Carlisle Themas be, and he is hereby declared elected Chief of Police for ~our
(4) years.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be, and she is hereby instructed
to issue and deliver certificates of election to each of the above persons.
PASSED AND ADOPTED in regular a4~~ session this 5th day of December,

The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular session at the
City Hall on the above date at 7:00 P.M. with the following present: Councilmen Hunt, Padgett,
Walker and Watford with Clerk Spivey.
President Pro-Tem Watford presided over meeting in absence of President Gardner.
Minutes of the meetings held October 1, 8, 22, November 5, 15, 26 and December 5, 1968 ~'~

Mr. James Whitton was present regarding his water bill which he felt was an excessive
amount. Councilman Walker advised him that Supt. Fortner would check the meter out and he would
be advised of finding.
J. V. Dykes appeared before the Council to see what the decision was in replacing bridge
with culvert to his property on Okeechobee Street, as requested in a previous meeting. The Council
instructed Supt. Williams to investigate matter and find out if the bridge can be repaired and report
at next regular meeti~4~ of the Council.
A request to opea Seminole Street between First Street and South Street was heard. Council-
man Padgett moved to grant request and open said street, seconded by Councilma~ Walker and carried.
Councilman Walker moved to purchase necessary pipe and flow meter for water plant in order
to get an accurate account of gallons of water pumped, seconded by Councilman Hunt and carried.
The Clerk reported that the Franchise check for 1968 from the Florida Power and Light
Compamy in accordance with Ordinance No. 223 had been received in the amount of $16,556.53.
Councilman Hunt moved to give all regular employees a Christmas Bonus of $15.OO, seconded
by Councilman Walker and carried.
Councilman Padgett moved to authorize the purchase of Chistmas decoration for City Hall not
to exceed $75.00, seconded ~y Councilma~ Walker and carried.
Upon motion the Council adjourned to meet December 31, 1968/~ 5:30 P.M. ~ ~

The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida met in regular adjourned session
at the City Hall on the above date at 5:30 P. M. with the following present: President Gardner,
Councilmen Hunt, Padgett and Watford with Clerk Spivey.
The Council agreed to advertise for bids on ½ ton pickup truck for water department.

Said Bids will be opened in the Council Chamber at the City Hall in Okeechobee, Florida,
at 8:00 P. M. January 7, 1969. The Council reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
