M. with the following present: Mayor Dunham, Councilmen Hunt, Padgett, Walker and Watford with Clerk Spivey. President Pro-Tem Watford presided over the meeting in the absence of President Gardnere The City Clerk presented the petitions of candidates in the General City Election to be held December 3, 1968, and the following petitions were examined by the Council and all petitions were found to contain 25 or more qualified electors~ COUNCILMEN: CHIEF OF POLICE: Charles L. Mann, and Paul H. Graham, Deputy, also Frank Havely, machine supervisor. Upon review of the Registration Book of qualified voters the following names were ordered stricken from the City Registration Book. The Clerk was instructed to have list published in the 0keechobee News that anyone having been stricken from the Registration Book through error may have their name restored to the Registration Book by appearing before the City Council at 5:30 P. M. on November 26, 1968. M. November 26, 1968 The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular adjourned session at the City Hall on the above date at 5:30 P. M. with the following present: President Gardner, Council- men Hunt, Padgett, Walker and Watford with Clerk Spivey. Pursuant to notice published in the Okeechobee News, President Gardner stated that the Council would hear complaints from anyone ha~ng had their name stricken from the City Registration Book. No complaints were heard, therefore, Councilman Walker moved that the names on list as advertised remain stricken from the Registration Books, seconded by Councilman Watford and u~animously carried. Upon recommendation of Chief of Police Thomas, Councilman Watford moved to employ Henry Prescott as Policeman at $90.00 per week, seconded by Councilman Padgett and ~nanimously carried. The list of needed items as presented by Fire Chief Godwin for the Fire Department was discussed. After study, discussion and recommendation, Councilman Hunt moved, seconded ~y Council- man Watford and unanimously carried, to purchase the following items: 1. 1 - Dryer 2. 1 - Double Bunk Bed 3. 500 feet of 2½ inch hose 4. 200 feet of 3/4 inch hose 5. 250 feet of 1 inch hose 6. 2 - gas masks Upon motion the Council adjourned to meet December 5, 1968 at 5:15 P. M. PRESIDENT CITY COUNCIL ATTEST: December 5, 1968 The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular adjourned session at ~.resent the City Hall on the above date at 5:15 P. M. with the following: Mayor Dunham, President Gardner, Councilmen Hunt, Padgett, Walker and Watford with Attorney Hendry and Clerk Spivey. At this time President Gardner stated that the Council would sit as a Canvassing Board to canvass the election returns of the General City Election held December 3, 1968. The following is the count in accordance with Talley Sheet as presented ~y Official Election Clerk and upon motion by Councilman Hunt, seconded by Councilman Watford and unanimously carried, the count was accepted as per Talley Sheet prepared and presented by the Official Election Board.
