The Cit~y Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular adjourned session at the
City Hall on the above date at 5:15 P. M. with the following present: Mayor Mack, President Mc Crocklin,
Councilmen Gardner, Hunt, Walker and Watford with Attorney Hendry and Clerk Spivey.
Pursuant to motice published in Okeechobee News-Mirror regarding a public hearing to consider rezoning
Lots 19 and 20, ~lock 28, Northwest Addition from Residential (R-2) to Commercial. President Mc Crocklin
asked if their w~e any objections. H.W. Mac Pherson stated his objection also presented written objectio'
Mac Pherson stated that he owned adjoining property on west and north and was not in favor of owners type
of business, presenting a petition signed by fifteen (15) property owners opposed to said rezoning. T.W.
Conely, Jr. Atto~ey, was present representing Mac Pherson.
Ear]_ Clay expres~d his reason for requesting the rezoning, to build a paint and body shop for a livelihood
and noise would ~ at a minimum at night. Presenting a signed statement from appreximately 50 property
owners stating t~at in order for business section of city to grow and expand that highway west to city
limits be rezon~d from Residential to Commercial. After a lenghty discussion Councilman Walker moved to
rezone Lots 19 amd 20, Block 28, Northwest Addition from Residential (R-2) to Commercial with the provision
that Attorney He,dry be instructed to prepare a statement for Clay to sign that the business be as stated
a paint and body Shop not a Junk yardand not be something of an eyesore to passerbys, building plans to be
presented to Building Inspector, building to be painted and that noise at night be stopped at 8:00 P. M.
so as not to ar~eF or disturb neighbors seconded by Councilman Hunt and unanimously carried. Councilman
Walker presented the following Ordinance and moved its adoption and upon being seconded by Councilman
Hunt was put to a vote and uannimously adopted:

ORDINA~EE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 271, BEING AN OBDINANCE ESTABLISHING ZONING REGI~ATIONS
FOR TH~ CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA, AND PROVIDINN FOR THE ADMINISTRATION, ENFORCEMENT
AND ~DMENT THEREOF PURSUANT TO T~E PRO~SIONS OF CHAPTER 176, FLORIDA STATUTES, 1953.
WHEREA~, application has been made by Earl W. Clay, requesting this Council to rezone
from RESIDEN~ (R-2) %0 COMMERCIAL) Lots 19 and 20, Block 28, Northwest Addition, and
~HEREA~, notice of intention to amend City Zoning Ordinance No. 271 regarding said
application ~as duly published accordin~ to ].aw, and
~U{ERE~, on the 22nd day of December, 1964, a public hearing was held in the City
Council room pursuant to said notice, and
~S, it is deemed to the best interest of the City of Okeechobee to grant said
app!ication; now therefore
BE IT O~DAiNED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF 0KEECHOBEE, FLORIDA:
SECTIi"~N 1. That Lots 19 and 20, Block 28 Northwest Addition, be and are hereb2
rezoned fr0n ~sidential (R-2) to Commercial effective December 22, 1964.
SECTIO~ 2. That the application requesting rezoning and proof of publication to
~mend Zoning Ordinance No. 271 published in connection with the above application be
attached to this Ordinance and become a part hereof.
SECTION~ 3. That the City Clerk make the appropriate change on the City Zoning
Map in acco]~nce with this Ordinance.

Fire Chief Godwin stated that the Okeechobee Volunteer Fire Department had voted to spend $500.OO on
fire equipment if the City would match fund. Councilman Hunt recommended that Fire Chief Godwin prepare
list of needed equipment
The Council discussed %he dog situation.
Upon motion the Council adjourned to meet December 29, 1964 at 5:15 P. M.
