Padgett moved to approve said application seconded by Coun~.i]man Walker and carried.
Upon request by the City Clerk, Councilman Padgett moved to employ part time help for the
Clerk's office to work on Ts~ Roll, seconded by Councilman Hunt and carried.
Councilman Walker presented the following Resolution and moved its adoption and upon being
seconded by Councilman Padgett was put to a vote and unanimously adopted. This action taken to correct
Resolution adopted April 9, 1968.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AN UTILITIES AGRE~W~NT FOR THE ADJUSTMENTS,
CHANGE OR RELOCATION OF CERTAIN UTILITIES WITHIN THE RIGHT-OF-WAY LIMITS HEREAFTER
DESCRIBED, AND PROVIDING WHEN THIS RESOLUTION SHALL TAKE EFFECT.
WHEREAS, the State Road Department of Florida has located and proposes to construct or
reconstruct a p~rt or ,State ~oad Streets in Okeechobee~ and
WHEREAS, in orde~ for the State Road Department to further and complete said project it
is necessary that certain utilities and/or facilities w_~_thin the Right of Way limits of
said State Road Streets of Okeechobee., be adjusted, changed or relocated; and
WHEREAS, the Stste ,t~ad Department having requested the City of 0keechobee~ Florida,
to execute and deliver to the State Road Dep~rtment a Utilities Agrae.~en% agreeing
to make

~acmI_ ties as set out in said Agreement, and said request having been duly

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Courior! of th~ City o~ Okeechobee~ Florida,
that the President of C~ty Council be and he is hereby authorized and directed to make~

ment, change or relocation of certain utilities within the Right of Way limits of said
State Road Streets in Okeechobee Section 91~30-6617;

Councilman Padgett reported that the County truck being used by the Impounding Officer had
been repaired, and was dn operation.
It was brought to the attentioa of the Council that the park benches were in need of repairs.
Matter referred to Building Inspector White.
A request was reported by the City Clerk fron Browa'rd Mc Clellan to inquire if the Council
would entertain a settle~ent on taxes on Lots 7, 8, ? and 10, Block 82, Original Town of Okeechobee
in the amount o.f $ ~ , ~ for the years 19~9 thn~ 1967. After discussion it was the
consensus of the Council that no reduction could be given. Attorney Hendry requested to advise
Mr. Mc Clellan of decision.
Complaints had been received by the Council that the shrubs in island on Parrott Avenue between
Fifth and Sixt~ Streets abstructed the view of on coming vehicles. Matter referred to Mayor Dunham.
Councilman Padgett reported that the State Road Department Engineer had contacted him in re-
gards to the paving of Tallahasse Street between North and South Park Street and that the fence on
west side of sw~-~ing pool block would have to be set back off right of way. Matter to be discussed
with Co~muissioners.
The Council instructed the Clerk to request a workshop meeting with Commissioners to discuss
Fire Department equiu~ent and relocating of fence on Tallahassee Street.
Counci]3~an Watford and President Gardner requested that their names go on record as opposed to
the County Commissioners leasing the garbage disposal grounds.
Councilman Watford aoved to purchase desk, chairs and venetian blinds for Mayor's office and
refinish present desk for Building Inspector seconded by Councilman Padgett and carried.
The Council agreed t~ add to the requested street light list the following: West Fifth Street
between Mrs. Dilla~t and ~ev. ~hipple, First Street and Miami. T. W. Oaughan, larger light between
Kelly and Coker on East .~'±~ate Road #70.
Water Supt. Fortner requested to check on easement for water line extension in Douglas Brown Par
CounciLv~an Hunt reported that Fire Chief Godwin had informed ~dm that he was unable to find
anyone to relieve him in order for b~m to take his vacation, therefore, requested two weeks extra
pay. Also it. was reported by President Gardner that Chief of Police Thomas would be in the same
circumstance due to resignation of personel. After discussion Councilman Padgett moved to grant
Fire Chief Godwin 2 wee~s extra pay for vacation that he was unable to take also to grant Chief Thomas!
2 weeks extra pay providiag he is unable to take vacation, seconded by Councilman Watford and carried.
Water Supt. Fortner reported the need of water meters stating that the service he was receivin~
from Rockwell Manufacturing Company was i~sufficient. The Co~mcil advised Supt. Fortner to write to
the Company requesting better service.
Complaints ~e~e reported on the church signs at corner of North Park and State Road No.
still being located there although the new church directov had been located on opposite corner

Matter to be checked out.
Complaints on the sale of beer at Georgia Boy's Cafe were reported. Chief Thomas to check
on license.
