The Cit~y Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular adjourned session at the
City Hall on th~. above date at 5:15 P. M. with the following present: Mayor Mack, President Mc CroCklin,
Councilmen Gardner, Hunt, Walker and Watford with Attorney Hendry and Clerk Spivey.
Pursuant to ~otice published in Okeechobee News-Mirror regarding a public hearing to consider rezoning
Lots 19 and 20, ~lock 28, Northwest Addition from Residential (R-2) to Commercial. President Mc Crocklin
asked if their w~re any objections. H.W. Mac Pherson stated his objection also presented written objectio

Mac Pherson stated that he owned adjoining property on west and north and was not in favor of owners type
of business, presenting a petition signed by fifteen (15) property owners opposed to said rezoning. T.W.
Conely, Jr. Attorney, was present representing Mac Pherson.
Earl Clay expressed his reason for requesting the rezoning, to build a paint and bedy shop for a livelihood
and noise would ~e at a minimum at night. Presenting a signed statement from approximately 50 property
oWners stating tF~at in order for business section of city to grow and expand that highway west to city
limits be rezone4 from Residential to Commercial. After ~ lenghty discussion Councilman Walker moved to
rezone Lots 19 a~d 20, Block 28, Northwest Addition from Residential (R-2) to Commercial with the provision
that Attorney He,dry be instructed to prepare a statement for Clay to sign that the business be as stated
a paint and body' Shop not a Junk yard.'~ud not be something of an eyesore to passerbys, building plans to be
presented to Building Inspector, building to be painted and that noise at night be stopped at 8:00 P. M.
so as not to ar~y or disturb neighbors seconded by Councilman Hunt and unanimously carried. Councilman
Walker presented the following Ordinance and moved its adoption and upon being seconded by Councilman
Hunt was put to ~ vote and uannimously adopted:

Fire Chief Godwin stated that the Okeechobee Volunteer Fire Department had voted to spend $500.00 on
fire equipment if the City would match fund. Councilman Hunt recommended that Fire Chief Godwin prepare
list of needed equipment a~d then discuss matter further.
The Council discussed ~e dog situation.
Upon motion the Counci~ adjourned to meet December 29, 196~ at 5:15 P. M.
