1968-05-09 Regular Adjourned 1105 May 9, 1968 The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular adjourned session at the City Hall on the above date at 5:30 P. M. with the following present: President Gardner, Councilmen Padgett, Walker and ~atford with Attorney Hendry and Clerk Spivey. The Council discussed the needed improvements for the waterworks facilities and on motion by Councilman Walker, seconded by Councilman Watford and unanimously carried, authorized Attorney Hendry to prepare Resolution of intent to improve waterworks facilities in order to provide adequate water service to water consumers and to proceed with advertising the notice to contractor for bid proposals to provide for the construction of approximately 5,700 lineal feet of 8 inch cast iron water transmission main and appurtenances along State Road No. 15 from Seaboard Railroad north to the new high school. NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS Sealed bids will be received by the City of Okeechobee, Florida, in the City Council Chamber, City Hall, Okeechobee, Florida, on June 4, 1968, until 7:30 P. M., Eastern Daylight Time, and will then be publicly opened and read in the City Council Chamber. Bids received after the designated time will not be considered. Such bid proposals to provide for the construction of approximately 5700 lineal feet of 8-inch cast iron water transmission main and appurtenances along State Road No. 15 from the Seaboard Railroad north to the new Okeechobee High School. Copies of plans and specifications may be obtained at the office of Brockway, Owen & Anderson Engineers, Inc., Fourth Floor, Guaranty Building, West Palm Beach, Florida, upon payment of Fifteen Dollars(S15.00), of which 100% will be refunded to prime contractors submitting a bona fide bid who return plans and specifications in good condition within ten days after bid opening. Additional plans may be had upon payment of printing costs. Bids shall be accompanied by a satisfactory bid bond or by a certified check, drawn upon an~ State or National Bank in Florida, made payable to the City of Okeechobee, Florida, in the amount of ,~% of the price bid as a guarantee that the Contractor will enter into a written contract with the Owner to perform the contract bid upon. The deposit will be retained by the Owner as liquidated damages in the event the success- ful bidder fails to enter into a contract. The deposits of unsuccessful bidders will be returned promptly, and the deposit of the successful bidder will be returned upon execution of the contract and delivery Of insurance policies. The successful bidder shall furnish and pay for a Performance Bond with a solvent surety company, satisfactory to the Owner, in the amount of 100% of the total of the bid, said bond being executed on the form provided with the contract documents. The City of Okeechobee reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive technmcalmtmes;i and the award, if made, will be to the lowest and most satisfactory responsible bidder who qualifies. M. with the following present: President Gardner, Councilman Padgett, Walker and Watford with Clerk Spivey. Pursuant to notice published in the Okeechobee News regarding a public hearing to consider rezoning from Agricultural to Residential (r-2) the North 668.71 ft. of the E½ of E½ of SW¼ of SE¼ Section 15, 37S-35E less and excepting the N. 50 feet thereof for highway purposes, President Gardner asked if there were any objections to the rezoni~. No objection was heard or filed. Councilman Walker moved to rezone the above parcel of land from Agricultural to Res. (R-2) thereby presenting the following Ordinance amd moved its adoption and upon being seconded by Councilman Watford was put to a vote and unanimously adopted: O INANC NO. 271-(5O) Ordinance AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 271, BEING AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING ZONING REGULATIONS FOR THE CITY OF OKEEC~OBEE, FLORIDA, AND PROVIDING FOR THE ADMINSTRATION, ENFORCEMENT AND AMENDMENT THEREOF PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 176, FLORIDA STATUTES, 1953. WHEREAS, application has been made by Markham Brothers and Company, requesting this Council to rezone from Agricultural to Residential (r-2) The North 668.?1 feet of the E½ of E½ of SW¼ of SE¼, Section 15, Township 37 South, Range 35 East less and excepting the North 50 feet thereof for Highway purposes, a~i WHEREAS, notice of intention to amend City Zoning Ordinance No. 271 regarding said application was duly published according to law, and WHEREAS, om the 14th day of May, 1968, a public hearing was held in the City Council room pursuant to said notice, and WHEREAS, it is deemed to the best interest of the City of Okeechobee to grant said application; now therefore BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. That the North 668.71 feet of the E½ of E½ of SW¼ of SE¼, Section 15, Township ~7 South, Range 35 East less and excepting the North 50 feet thereof for Highway purposes, be and is hereby rezoned from Agricultural to Residential (R-2) effective Mayl4, 1968. SECTION 2. That the application requesting rezoning and proof of publication to amend Zoning Ordinance No. 271 published in connection with the above application be attached to this Ordinance and become a part hereof. SECTION 3. That the City Clerk make the appropriate change on the City Zoning Map in accordance with this Ordinance. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 14th day of May, 1968.
