Attorney Hendry informed the Council that according to law any taxes twenty years old or older
should be cancelled due to statute of limiation. Councilman Hunt moved to authorize Attorney Hendry

Mayor Dunham discussed the possibility of the fire siren being blown less times for different
kind of fires and shorter. Matter to be discussed further.
Mayor Dmnham reported complaints of the old material from Southland Hotel building having been
dumped in ditch on property owned by D. R. Watford on T~elfth Street.
Attorney Hendry requested to check law governing a person living outside of city limit~
connecting to water main without the City's knowledge and using water.
Upon motion the Council adjourned.

The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular session at the City Hall
on the above date at 7:00 P. M. with the following present: President Gardner, Councilmen Hunt,
Padgett, Walker and Watford with Attorney Hendry and Clerk Spivey.
Minutes of the meeting held April 9, 1968, were read and approved as read.
Councilman Hunt reported that Mr. R. E. Hamrick granted permission for set back of monument
in park.
Mrs. Betty Mace was present again requesting permission to park trailer on her property Lot
1, Block 1, Wright's First Addition agreeing to completely inclose trailer providing the Council would
grant permission to park trailer on lot. After discussion the Council agreed to discuss matter further
and to consult with the Building Inspector.
Councilman Watford presented the following Ordinance and moved its adoption and upon being
seconded by Councilman Padgett was put to a vote and unaminously adopted:
ORDINANCE NO. 328
AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE MOVEMENT AND RELOCATION OF HOUSES AND BUILDINGS
WITHIN THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE
Be tt Ordained By The Mayor and City Counsil of the City of Okeechobee, Florida:
Section 1. That no houses, buildings or other structures shall be moved or re-
located from a place outside the City limits of Okeechobee to a place within the City
of Okeechobee.
Section 2. That no house, building or structure shall be moved from a place within
the City of Okeechobee to another place within the City of Okeechobee.
Section 3. Nothing in this Ordinance shall preclude the movement and relocation of

houses, buildings and ether structures from a place within the City of Okeechobee to a
place outside the City of Okeechobee.
Section 4. Ail persons, firms or corporations violating the provisions of this

Ordinance shall, upon conviction thereof, be subject to a fine not exceeding $500.00
or imprisonment not longer than three months~ or both such fine and imprisonment.
Section 5. This Ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and approval by
the Mayor.

being seconded by Councilman Padgett was put to a vote and unamimously adopted:
ORDINANCE NO. 329
AN ORDINANCE CANCELLING MUNICIPAL TAXES AND TAX SALE CERTIFICATES OF THE
CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA FOR THE YEAR 1947 AND PRIOR YEARS.
WHEREAS, there are many unpaid taxes and outstanding tax sale certificates of the
City of Okeechobee, Florida against certain lands within the municipal boundaries of
the City of Oke®chobee, Florida for the year 1947 and prior years; and
WHEREAS by cirtue of the provisions of Section 95.021 (1) Laws of Florida, 1967,
(FSA) the above tax liens are now uninforceable; and
WHEREAS said unpaid taxes and tax sale certificates may constitute some cloud,
doubt or suspicion upon lands to which they pertain; and
WHEREAS it is deemed to be to the best interest of the City of Okeechobee,
Florida and to its citizens and tax payers to cancell said unpaid taxes and tax sale
certificates; now therefore
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA
SECTION 1. That all unpaid taxes and tax sale certificates of the City of Okee-
chobee, Florida for the year 1947 and prior years be and they are hereby cancelled.
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk of the City of Okeechobee, Florida is hereby authorizedli
and instructed to indicate the cancellation of said unpaid taxes and tax sale
certificates upon the tax records of the City of Okeechobee, Florida.
SECTION 3. That a certified copy of this ordinance be filed and recorded in
the public records of Okeechobee County, Florida.
SECTION 4. That this ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and approval
by the Mayor.

A request from Miss Carrie Peterman to adjust street light at her property on north
Meredith Street was discussed. The Council agreed to request the Florida Power and Light Company
to adjust light.

Supt. Fortner reported the need of an air conditioner for the sewer plant labatory room.
Matter to be discussed further at workshop meeting.
Councilman Hunt moved that Councilman Alto Watford, Jr. be authorized to sign checks as
Temporary Chairman of Finance Committee, seconded by Councilman Padgett and unanimously carried.
The Council discussed collection of deliquent water bills. Councilman Walker moved to
send final notice on 15th of month to all water consumers with one month or more deliquent bills,
allowing l0 days for payment to be made or water service will be discontinued and a $2.00 de.tiquent
fee will be required to turn water back on, seconded by Councilman Watford and unanimously carried.
A rezoning application was received from Rennice and Madeline Padgett. The Council auth-
orized the legal notice to be published in the Okeechobee Hews on the public hearing of said rezoning.

NOTICE is hereby given that the City Council of the City of 0keechobee, Florida,
a municipal corporation, will consider rezoning from Residential (R-2) to Commercial
and to amend accordingly the Comprehensive Zoning ~rdinance j~271 adopted November 21,
1955, the following,described real property, situate, lying and being within the
corporate limits of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, to-wit:
Lots 7, 8, 9, 18, 19 and 20, Block 200, Original Town of Okeechobee
and that a public hearing in relation thereto will be held at 7:00 P. M. on the 4th
day of June, 1968, in the City Council room, City Hall, Okeechobee, Florida, at which
