Curren, Attorney, representing Mr. and Mrs. Mol Mace, was present, ~etitioning the Council. Also presented a petition si~ned by seventeen persons requesting the Council to allow the Mace's to keep their trailer on l,ot l, Block l, Wrigbt's !st Addition. After discussion the Council agreed to study matter ~urther at a s~ecial meeting. ~ev. O. A. Rusher, M~nister of the Presbyterian Church requested the installation of a street light at ~neir church on north Meredith Street. It was agreed to contact the Florida Power and LiEht Company for a ~mrvey on cost of light. Robert T. Bell, representing the Moose Lodge was present requesting a pennit for the Moose Lodge to have bingo games. In accordance witch the new State Law, Councilman Watford moved to grant request and issue peri, it seconded by Cmmcilman Padgett and carried. 1066 Water Supt. Fortner, stated that a State Board of Health Chemist would be here Thursday to investigate water situation. Supt. Fortner presented prices on new ditching machine as follows: Ditch Witch Trencher Inc. of Florida J20 - in approximately $400.00. H. F. Mason Equipment Corporation - T-66 $3,060.56 - TF-200 trade in approxi~mtely $~o00. After discussion and consideration CounciLm~ Walker moved to purchase from Ditch Witch Trencher Inc. of Florida 12 HP by Counci]~ian Padgett and carried. ~. C. ORDINANCE NO. 324 AN ORDINANCE REFINING AND REGULATING WASTE MATERIAL AND DISCARDED AND ABANDONED IT~ ON PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA; PBOVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION HEREOF; AND PROVIDING FOR THE EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. BE IT ORDALNED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. It shall be unlawful for any person to cause or permit Junk, scrap metal, scrap lumber, wastepaper products, discarded building materials, or any unused abamdoned vehicle, vehicles, oil drums, ice boxes, or abandoned 1069 parts, machinery or machinery parts, or other waste materials, to be in or upon any lot, yard, garden, lawn, or premises, in the City of Okeechobee for a period of time exceeding 30 days unless in connection with a Junk yard enter- prise lawfully situated and licensed for the same. SECTION 2. It shall be unlawful to permit any accumulation of any such waste materials to be in or upon any lot, yard, lawn, garden, or premises, in the City of Okeechobee, if the same constitutes a fire hazard, a hazard to the safety of persons or property, or an unsanitary or unsightly condition, or detrimental to neighboring property. SECTION 3. It shall be unlawful for any person to discard or abandon any of the waste materials mentioned in Section 1 hereof, upon a lot or premises not owned or occupied by such person without the consent of the owner thereof or the person occupying the same. SECTION h. Any person, firm, or corporation, violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance, upon conviction thereof shall be punished by a fine not exceeding Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) or imprisonment for a term not exceeding sicty (60) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment. Each day upon which the violation shall occur or continue shall constitute a seperate offense. SECTION 5. This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon final passage.
