Review the Profit and Loss Reports, ATTACHMENT #1 Attachment One contained a record provided by City Finance of revenues totaling $77,257.80 with $45,226.56 in expenditures or obligated costs, leaving a balance of $32,031.24. VI. REPORTS AND UPDATES A. Updates on Official Centennial Events and Approved Partnered Events 1. Adam Bryant Minimal Regatta, October 2 -3 — Chair Mixon Regatta tickets for pork dinners may be purchased for $5 in advance, $7 at the event on Friday, with a fireworks show at 9 p.m. The boat races start at 9 a.m. Saturday. The event's Centennial theme has been incorporated into the trophies and prizes. Chair Mixon encouraged everyone to come out and bring their families. 2. Heritage Festival, October 10 — Members Williams /Cable Member Cable reported that approximately thirty exhibits have been confirmed to date and work is being done on getting more. Member Enfinger has volunteered to run the "Hall of History." Public Works Director Allen will be supplying a crew for set -up and clean -up. Volunteers are needed to help with keeping the event running smoothly and clean, distributing materials on future Centennial events, set -up and tear down, directing crowd to various event times, and assisting with Time Capsule materials collection. 3. GFWC Centennial Monthly Movie in the Park, October 10 & November 14 — Chair Mixon The October 10 movie will be the Book of Life. The November 14 movie is still pending. 4. Festival of Lights, December 4 — Clerk Gamiotea Clerk Gamiotea reported she will be discussing this event with the incoming City Administrator, Marcos Montes De Oca, and will update the Committee at the next meeting. 5. Top of the Lake Christmas Festival and Lighted Parade, December 5 — Member Turgeon The Festival will start at 10 a.m. and end with the conclusion of the Lighted Parade. A large, 15 -foot walk -in snow globe has been added through the assistance of the Tourist Development Council. 6. Frolic & BBQ — Celebrating 100 Years of Music & Dance — Member Elsken Member Elsken reported that official permission has been given from the Board of County Commissioners to use the historic courthouse and field across the street in old teen town for the festivities. Three food vendors have been confirmed and she is expecting many more as time goes on. The BOCC has requested that any food vendors or eating areas be kept in the lots to the south and not on the courthouse lawn. Carl Cable has volunteered for the 50's Jazz demonstration and a fiddler is being sought to fill a slot in another period. The B.R.A.T. Club and other service clubs have committed to being at the event and Council Member Watford will be bringing reenactors for the Virginia Reel. Member Elsken also informed the Committee that the streets reserved for the Frolic are extremely dark, so lighting will be needed during the event. Waste Management and Okeechobee Utility Authority were suggested by Committee members as possibilities to obtain lighting. City Hall Front Walkway Project - Member Hoover /Director Allen, ATTACHMENT #2 Attachment Two contained a worksheet detailing the amount of bricks and replicas obligated for purchase, totaling 255 4x8s with 37 replicas, and 117 8x8s with 36 replicas. Clerk Gamiotea reported that the incoming City Administrator is an engineer and will be assisting Director Allen in the creation of the walkway. No official action was required at this time. 2. Centennial Park (no report at this time) There was no new information available at this time. C. Media Liaison Update — Member Turgeon Member Turgeon reported she had completed an interview about the Heritage Festival with Billy Dean on WOKC, earlier this morning. No official action was required. F. School /Cultural Liaison Update — Member Enfinger 1. Creative Writing Contest, ATTACHMENT #3 Attachment Three contained a rough draft of a Centennial Writing Contest as well as the entry form. Member Enfinger reported that two different organizations have offered to sponsor the $300 total prize money for the winners. The Consensus of the Committee was to use in house funds to cover the prize money, ribbons and certificates for grades 3 -12. The project is being distributed as an extracurricular activity and not required classwork through the public schools. It will be open to all students in Okeechobee County including homeschoolers. Judging will be done by a panel of retired teachers and a historian. No official action was required at this time. G. Time Capsule Update — Member Gaiser, ATTACHMENT #4 Clerk Gamiotea reviewed Attachment Four which had information outlining suggestions to add to the Time Capsule. Ideas included: Key to the City, Fire /Police patches, scrapbooks from each Centennial event, copies of scripts, sheet music or books related to or about Okeechobee, Messages to the Future as well as others. Member Domer requested the Committee set an end date to collect items for the Time Capsule so that the size and type of capsule can be properly considered. No official action was offered at this time. VII. NEW BUSINESS A. Discuss the meeting schedule for October to December — Clerk Gamiotea The Committee agreed to a normal meeting schedule in October and November. The meeting dates will be Oct 12 and Oct 26, Nov 9 and Nov 23, with the last meeting being held Dec 14. Member Elsken informed the Committee she would be absent for the October 12 meeting. B. Centennial Booth at Trunk or Treat — Clerk Gamiotea Clerk Gamiotea reported that there will be a Centennial booth present at the event. Candy donations are being requested. Mz. Centennial has also been asked to attend the event. VIII.
