1966-11-08 Regular November 8, 1966 The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular session at the City Hall on the above date at 7:00 P. M. with the following present: Mayor Dunham, President Mc Crocklin, Council-.. men Gardner, ~hmt, Walker and Watford with Attorney Hendry and Clerk Spivey. Minutes of the meeting held October 4, 1966, were read and approved as read. Councilman ~alker reported two water line extension request involvi~ approximately 225 feet of pipe. The Council agreed to make extensions. Councilman Watford moved to extend water and sewer line to Kentucky Fried Chicken site east of City Hall and to extend lines to City Hall seconded by Councilman Gardner and carried. The Clerk in- structed to notify Charles B. Mc Adam, Consulting Engineer of the Councils action so that he can obtain the State Board of Health approval on proposed extensions. Supt. Williams reported the need of tires for two dump trucks. Councilman Gardner moved to purchase tires for two dump trucks under the State Purchase Plan, seconded by Councilman Watford and carried. It was agreed to purchase one set from Gilbert Chev. Co. and one set from Wherrell Oil Co. Supt. Williams reported that the Street Department pickup truck was broke down. The.Council new authorized Supt. Williams to prepare specification on/truck and present to Council for approval. Councilman Hunt moved to extend the 4% discount date on taxes to December 31, 1966 and 3% discount to January 31, 1967, due to delay in preparing Tax Roll caused by the City seeking an opinion concern- ing the 100% valuation, seconded by Councilman Watford and unanimously carried. Councilm~ Warlord moved to appoint the following Election Board Officials ~ $1.O0 per hour for the General City Election to be held December 6, 1966, seconded By Councilman Walker and carried: Willa Minehan, Clerk; Inspectors Ruth Mires, Ruth Jeffers and Carrie Peterman; Machine operators, June Boromei and Gladys Lowe, Deputy Paul H. Graham, Sr. and Frank Havely machine supervisor. Councilman Gardner reported a street light request on South Park Street between Bob's Market and J. W. Mobley, also a request for a larger street Light at Odd Fellow Hall on west 8th Street and on Hancock Street at corner of Clark Avenue. The Council authorized the requests to be added to list of street light request. President Mc Orecklin stated that Ed Sizemore had reported the street light situation had not been improved at 14th Street and Miami Street. It was reported that the Florida Power and Light Co. had not cut limbs as authorized. Matter to be investigated. Councilman Watford discussed the Jack Ezell accident. Matter to be discussed further at workshcp me · ting. Councilman Watford pre~ented speeifieatio~s on police car with delivery after January 1, 1967. Councilman Watford moved to publish notice in Okeechobee News with bids being opened December 6, 1966, seconded by Councilman Gardner and carried: NOTICE NOTICE is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, will receive sealed bids for the purchase of the following: 1 special police car, 4 door, heater, tinted glass, turn signal, back-up lights, air conditioning, spot light, heavy duty automatic transmission at least 60 AMP, iow cut in alternator, 15 inch wheels, minimum of 360 HP engine, tan with white top, power brakes, power steering and padded dash. 1026 Delivery dat~ after January 1, 1967. Trade in allowance on 1965 Monteray Mercury 4 door, model No. 54A. Said bids will be opened in the Council Chamber at the City Hall in Okeechobee, Florida, at 8:00 P. M. December 6, 1966. The Council reserves the right to reject any and all bids. Attorney Hendry read a letter from Municipal Code Corporation suggesting that the City authorize was requested them to bring up to date the Code of Ordinances. The Clerk/to make list of all Ordinances adopted since the Code of Ordinance was published, and present to Council for study. Councilman Hunt moved to grant Texaco Inc. permission to install 1 - 1,OOO gallon tank, and 4 - 10,O00 gallon,' tanks on property at corner of South Parrott and Third Street with installation under the supervision of Building Inspector White, seconded by Councilman Gardner and carried. Pursuant to notice published in the Okeechobee News the Council sat as a Board of Equalizers. NOTICE NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEM that the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, will meet in the Council Chamber of the City ~all at 5:15 P. M. November 15, 1966, for the purpose of reviewing and equalizing the City Tax Assessment Roll for the year 1966, as prepared by the City Tax Assessor. ANY AND ALL PERSONS having any objections to the valnation placed on their property by the City Tax Assessor, as shown by the Assessment Roll, are hereby notified to file their objections with the City Clerk or to appear in person before the City Council at said meet- lng on the aforesaid date.
