M. with the following present: Mayor Dunham, President McCrocklin, Councilmen Gardner, Hunt, Walker and. Wat~ord with Attorney Hendry and Clerk Spivey. Minutes of the meeting held August 9, 1966 were read and aporoved as read. Mc Adam as consulting engineer fcr water aD~ sewer project at a fee of $600.00, seconded by Councilman Watford and un~mn~ous!y carriedil Frank A!tobello was present voicing a complaint of old used lumber and building materia].s bein~ put on proper~y adjacent to his on south Parrott Avenue. Attorney Hendry instructed to investigate Ordinance Eoverning matters of this nature. C' ' Clyde Kauffman, mvml Defense [~irector was present discussing the planned city cleanup program requesting that the city furnish one tr~tck and two drivers for five Saturdays to participate in in the cleam~p program. After discussion Councilman Gardner moved to furnish one truck and two d~vers!i: for five Sat~:rdays for city cleanup program, seconded by Councilman Watford and carried. Also Civil Defense Director Kauffman invited a representative frc~ the city to attend emergency plaDning sera, ice to be held in the month of November~ and stated also that during the month of October their would be a mcck nuclear disaster operation, Jn city. Joe Dixon of .Ail Service Refuse Incorporated was present regarding information on the meeting of the Counc~l and County Commissioners concerr~ing a fee for garbage dump t~se. Cla~,~,on~j ~hite, Building Inspector was present presenting a bid from ElVis Mixon in the amount of $295.00 t~'. furnish material and build window guards for jail. After discussion Councilman Hunt moved to accept bid as submitted seconded by Councilman Gardner and carried. A letter from Chief of Police Thomas had been previously received by each Councilmen and at this time was brought up for discussion by Policeman Alan H. Thomas in the absence of Chief Thomas. The Council agreed to study request at their budget meeting. Also Policeman Thomas reported on the F. B. Ii4 school to be held in Fort Pierce requesting permissior}~ for the Police Department to attend. The Council agreed to grant request and that dtails be worked out by Councilman Watford and Chief Thomas. Counci~..an Hunt stated that Fire Chief Godwin had requested two weeks extra pay for vacation that he was unable to take due to having no one to relieve h_~m of his duties. Councilman Walker moved to grant request and pay Fire Chief Godwin two weeks extra pay for vacation that he was unable to take due to no fire relief man being available, seconded by Councilman Hunt and carried. or junked Cour~ciL~ an Walker moved to include in notice on sale of abandoned/automobiles, City of Okeechobee ].95~ pickup Ford truck (Water Department) seconded by Councilman Watford and carried. Counci]man Gardner reported that the pickup t~ck used by the Street Department was not worth repairing. 1 U~n motion by Councilman Gardner, seconded by Councilman Hunt and unanimously carried the Counci~ agreed to write letter of appreciation to the Board of County Commissioners .and State Road Department for their be]~p in the drsinage situation. ~on _~-~ ion the Cou_~cil adjourned.
