Councilman Gardner discussed the need of a sludge tank on a trailer for use at sewer plant.
The Council agreed to contact County Commissioners to see if the sludge could be disposed of at the
dump before taking action on tank and trailer.
Councilman Gardner discussed junked automobiles parked over city. The Council agreed to check
Ordinance on junk yard control.
A complaint was heard on the dog pound being located at City Hall. Councilman Gardner agreed
to find out if the dog pound could be located at dump.
The Council agreed to install culvert on South Park Street at Bob's Market and install 15 inch
culvert at Aqua Aire Motel providing the property owners purchase said culverts.
Councilman Gardner discussed a $5.00 increase in Police Uniform allowance. Action postponed
for full Council attendance.
The Council authorized the purchase of 20 feet, 24 inch uncoated cul~vert and band for Tenth
Street and Pensacola Street.
A request from Katie B. Cate for a street light was authorized to be added to the list of street
lights to be investigated.
Upon motion the Council adjourned to meet May 10, 1966~ at 5:15 P. M.

The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular adjourned session at the
City Hall on the above date at 5:15 P. M. with the following present: Mayor Dunham, President
Mc Crocklin, Councilman Gardner, Hunt, Walker and Watford with Attorney Hendry and Clerk Spivey.
The following bills in the amount of $ 24.41 and $ 196.29 were approved and ordered paid
when funds are available:

The Council discussed replacement of approximately 2000 feet of water main on west State Road
#70 (to Deberry Gardens), water line extension on north Hillsborough and west on llth Street.
Supt. Fortner was authorized to get bids or prices on necessary material. The Council agreed te

After discussion Councilman Walker moved to begin construction on lines as per plans submitted by
Water Supt. Fortner as soon as material is available, seconded by Councilman Gardner and carried.
Judge 6. E. Bryant, Jr. discussed a Federal Housing project for low income families. The
Council agreed to meet with authorities on this matter at a later date.
Councilman Walker moved to install platform or baffle around ladder on water tank in an effort

to keep unauthorized persons from climbing the water tank, seconded by Councilman Watferd and carried.
Councilman Walker reported a request for water line extension from the Church of Prophecy being
on north 16th Street requiring approximately 682 feet of pipe. After consideration Council-

man Walker moved to grant request and install l½ inch water line to above location, seconded by
Councilman Gardner and carried. Also a request from Lester McGee for water line extension east on
Petit Street from Hillsborough Avenue was reported by Councilman Walker. Said extension would
require approximately 375 feet of pipe servicing two houses. The Council agreed that when two tap
fees were paid said extension would be granted.
After discussion and consideration of the Trailer Ordinance, Councilman Gardner moved te delete
Trailer Ordinance Amendmemt Ne. 315 and No. 31~i, seconded by Councilman Watford and unanimously
carried. The Council agreed that trailer permit holders due te hardship circumstances should be
notified of Council actiom.
The cleaning up of junk yards in city discussed. Mayor Dunham agreed to work on matter.
The charges on city telephones located in city empleyee homes was discussed by the Mayer and
Council, afterwhich Councilman Watford moved that the am~l~y~e pay all telephone cost on individual

telephones seconded by Councilman Walker and unanimously carried. (Addition/listing, colored telephoneS,
extensions and etc.)
Representatives from Chamber of Commerce were present regarding cleaning up of city. They were
advised that this matter was under advisement at this time. Also requested city labor to lay sod
at Chamber of Commerce site. The Council agreed to cooperate where possible and would investigate
request with Street Department.
Chief Engineer Bill Storch of the Flood Control was present as requested by the Council te
discuss proposed Flood Control program regarding Taylor Creek in city limits and south to lake.
An informative discussion was heard with Mr. Storch agreeing to contact the State Board of Health
on several matters and notifying City of reply.

The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular session at the City Hall
on the above date at 7:00 P. M. with the following present: Mayor Dunham, President Mc Crocklin,
Councilmen Gardner, Hunt, Walker and Watford with Attorney Hendry and Clerk Spivey.
Minutes of the meetings held May 3 and 10, 1966 were read and approved as read.
