the First Party shall be placed on said Government Lot 6 as directed by the First Party.
3. The Third Party agrees to spread all shell delivered to the First Party as above on
said Goverment Let 6.
4. The Second Party shall dig and lead shell on trucks owned by the Third Party in
such quantities to be mutually agreed upon.
5. This borrew pit agreement shall be for a term of 60 months or until all shell
shall have been removed from said strip, whichever event shall first occur.

The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, met in regular session at 7:00 P. M.
~on the above date at the City Hall with the following present: Mayor Dunham, President ~ Crocklin,
Councihen Gardner, Hunt and Watford with Clerk Spivey.
Minutes of the meeting held April 5, 1966, were read and approved as read.

Pursuant to notice published in the Okeechobee News regarding a public hearing to consider
rezoning Lots 23, 2h, 2~ and 26, Block 19, Original Town of Okeechobee, from Industrial to Residentia~
(R-2) President Mc Crocklin asked if their were any objections. No objection was heard or filed.
Councilman Gardner moved to rezone the above described property from Industrial to Residential (R-2)
presenting the following Ordinance and moved its adoption and upon being seconded by Councilman
Hunt was put to a vote and unanimously adopted:

ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 271, BEING AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING ZONING
REGULATIONS FOR THE CITY OF OKEEGHOBEE, FLORIDA, AND PROVIDING FOR THE
ADMINISTRATION, ENFORCEMENT AND AMENDMENT THEREOF PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS
OF CHAPTER 176, FLORIDA STATUTES, 1953.
WHEREAS, application has been made by Hattie Gourley, requesting this Council
to rezone from Industrial to Residential (R-2) Lots 23, 22, 25 and 26, Block 19, Original
Town of Okeechobee, and
WHEREAS, notice of intention to amend City Zoning Ordinance No. 271 regarding said
application was duly published according to law, and
WHEREAS, on the 3rd day of May, 1966, a public hearing was held in the City Council
room pursuant to said notice, and
'WHEREAS, it is deemed to the best interest of the City of Okeechobee to grant said
application; now therefore
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That Lots 23, 2~, 25 and 26, Block 19, Original Town of Okeechobee, be
and are hereby rezoned from Industrial to Residential (R-2) effective May 3, 1966.
SECTION 2. That the application requesting rezoning and proof of publication to
amend Zoning Ordinance No. 271 published in connection with the above application be
attached to this Ordinance and become a part hereof.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk make the appropriate change on the City Zoning Map
in accordance ~ith this Ordinance.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 3rd day of May, 1966.

Jerry Anderson met with the Council discussing the water situation at his home in North-
West section. The Council advised that this matter was being investigated and hoped to be able t~
eliminate problem in near future.
Councilman Gardner moved that Attorney Hendry be instructed to write a letter to Colonel
Broadfoot, Corp of Engineer, Clewiston, Florida, requesting the Corp of Engineers to spray the
hyacinth in feeder canals in Wilcox ~hores and Okeechobee Estates, seconded by Councilman Watford
and carried.
Councilman Gardner discussed rescinding Amendment to Trailer Ordinance but no action was taken
due to a full Council not being present.

Councilman Gardner discussed the need of a sludge tank on a trailer for use at sewer plant.
The Council agreed to contact County Commissioners to see if the sludge could be disposed of at the
dump before taking action on tank and trailer.
Councilman Gardner discussed Junked automobiles parked over city. The Council agreed to check
Ordinance on junk yard control.
A complaint was heard on the dog pound being located at City Hall. Councilman Gardner agreed
to find out if the dog pound could be located at dump.
The Council agreed to install culvert on South Park Street at Bob's Market and install 15 inch
culvert at Aqua Aire Motel providing the property owners purchase said culverts.
Councilman Gardner discussed a $5.00 increase in Police Uniform allowance. Action postponed
for full Council attendance.
The Council authorized the purchase of 20 feet, 24 inch uncoated culvert and band for Tenth
Street and Pensacola Street.
A request from Katie B. Cate for a street light was authorized to be added to the list of street
lights to be investigated.
Upon motion the Council adjourned to meet May 10, 1966, at 5:15 P. M.

#70 (to Deberry Gardens), water line extension on north Hillsborough and west on llth Street.
Supt. Fortner was authorized to get bids or prices on necessary material. The Council agreed te

After discussion Councilman Walker moved to begin construction on lines as per plans submitted by
Water Supt. Fertner as soon as material is available, seconded by Councilman Gardner and carried.
Judge O. E. Bryant, Jr. discussed a Federal Housing project for iow income families. The
Council agreed to meet with authorities on this matter at a later date.
