1966-02-08 Regular 993 After discussion and consideration the Council agreed that the Jailer release prisoners upon authority from the Police Department office and that the Police Officers act as Bailiff at City Court. M. with the following present: President Mc Crocklin, Council- men Gardner, Hunt, Walker and Watford with Clerk Spivey. Councilman Walker moved to instruct Attorney Hendry te prepare Ordinance increasing the minimun charge on water 50~ (from $3.00 te $3.50) to all consu~mers outside the city limits, seconded by Councilman Gardner and unanimously carried. Also Attorney Hendry was requested te prepare letter notifying all consumers outside city limits of price increase. Councilman Hunt moved to authorize work te be started at the water plant installing safety devices as required by Flerida Industrial Cemmissien, seconded by Ceuncilman Gardner and carried. A request was tabled for water line extension en west 10th street west ef Hillsborough street. Upon recommendation of Ceuncilman Watferd, Chairman Parks, Laws and Rule8 Cemmittee, Ceuncilman Gardner moved to increase Policeman Alan H. Thomas salary $7.50 per month, retreactive t~ January 1, 1966, secende~ by CounciLman Watferd and carried. was presented A request/frem the Leyal Order ef the Meese #1753, fer certificate ef zening at 1900 S. Attorney Hendry stated that in his search he found that R. E. Hamrick had deeded the land to the City ef Okeechobee for a Chamber of Commerce building. Tom Edwards, representing the Chamber of Commerce was present discussing needed repairs on the Chamber ef Commerce building, stating that the County Commissioners had agreed to donate one half of cost of repairs. Councilman Watfor~ moved, seconded by Councilman Gardner and carried, to donate $100.00 to Okeechobee County Chamber ef Commerce for buildi~ repairs. Mr. Edwards also requested that the city street department truck haul off junk and trash from the Chamber of Commerce building. Councilman Gardner, Chairman of Street Department agreed this could be arranged. Gladys Stelle appeared before the Council in behalf of A~Ars. Marjerie Coleman, regarding a water line extension te house en west llth street. Due to the distance from existing water line this matter was tabled in minutes of January 18, 1966, but after due consideration the Council referred the matter to Councilman Walker, Chairman of Water Department and recommended that a pressure check be made om the existing water line. Ernest Evans, appeared before the Council presenting a revised plat ef parts of Thir~ Addition te Okeechobee Estates for approval. Councilman Gardner moved to accept said plat seconded by Councilman Watford and unanimously carried. Councilman Watferd moved te charge the Okeechobee Beaeh Water Association, Inc. for electricity and chemicals at the same price the city pays, seconded by Ceuncilma~ Walker and carried. Ceuncilman Gardner moved te purchase a calculator at approximately $59~.$$ for the City Clerk's office with the water department paying half the cost, seconded by Ceuncilma~ Hunt and unanimously carried. Water Supt. Fertner submitte~ prices en pipe and necessary fittings for water line extension on west State Read #7S. It was suggested that the backhee could be used te dig ditch for the pipe. Supt. Williams instructed te get price on bucket for bacMhee.
