Walker with G. ~.~ D~rrance, Cit~'. Attorney and Lorena Spivey, City. Clerk.
Rolland A. Sharp of Sharp and Associates, Znc., was present discussing
at lenght with the Council the water and sewer extension program, including the cost
of prof~ram, financing~ proposed rates, operation, maintenance, Federal Grant and
study of the proposed sewer plans. After discussion Councilman ~andler moved that
the City validate Revenue Certificates in the ~ount of ~350~000.00 for water ex-
tension and sewer cc~tstruction, seconded by Councilm~ Wa~er and unanimously carried.
:.ayor Du~ discussed with the Council the importance of the Police De-
partment, recommending that the Cotmcil adopt ~ Ordinance used by other cities,
wherein the city operates under the State Law governing violations of misdemeanors.
'~e Council were of the opiniion that the City did not need to adopt the 'complete
Ordinance but were i'n accord on adoption of Ordinances that the City did not have.
Councilman Gardner moved that the City adopt t!~at part of the State Law covering
"Driving without a ~icense" and instructed Attorney Durrance to prepar~ Ordinance
on s~e seconded by Coumci!man 0~andler and carried. President Watford requested the
Laws and Rules Co~ittee to study the existing ordinances and reco~,end to ~e Council
the needed ordinances also to study Ordinance recor~ended by the Mayor.

Councilman Gardner moved to rescind the action in minutes of ~[arch 5, 195V,
requesting A~aon ~,~c Clellan to replace Meredith Street to original condidtion, until

A discussion on water for the swim~ing pool was heard, matter tabled for
further investigation.
Councilman Gardner moved to insert in the bid for a police car -
~45 Horsepower - seconded by Councilman CNandler and carried.
Councilman Chandler discussed with the Council the need of an additional
man for the Water Department Councilman Gardner moved to employ an additional man
for said department at $60.00 per week, seconded by Councilman Chandler and carried.
Councilman Gardner moved that the Attorney be instructed to prepare
Ordinance closing the alley in Block 21, Southwest Addition, seconded by Councilman
Walker and carried. Ail of said block being the property of Leroy Chandler who
quested the above action.
Feeding of city prisoners was discussed by Jailer 01eh Godwin with the
matter being referred to Councilman Pearce for investigation of the amount paid by
the county for faeding county prisioners. The Council agreed to pay the same rate
as County and to be effective as of I~arch 1, 195~.
The matter of the City paying the Engineering fee for relaying water line
on State Road ~441 was discussed. Matter tabled.

The City Council of the City of 0keechobee, Florida, met in regular session
at the City Hall on the above date at 7:30 P. M. with the following present: Mayor
Dunham, President Watford, Councilmen ~andler, Gardner, Pearce and Walker with G. C.
Durrance, City Attorney and Lorena Spivey, City Clerk.
