ZONING REGULATIONS FOR THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA, AND PROVIDING
FOR THE ADMINSTRATIOTT, ENFORCEMENT AND AMENDMENT THEREOF PURSUANT TO
THE PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 176, '1,0RIPA STATUTES, 1953.
WHEREAS, application has been made by Burgner Molasses Company, Edward
B. Seegers, President, requesting this Council to rezone from Residential
(R -1) to Commercial the N. 6n feet of Tots 10, 11 and 12, Block_ :iii,
Original Town of Okeechobee, and
WHEREAS, notice of intention to amend City Zoning Ordinance No. 271,
regarding said application was duly published according to law, and
TTT-TERF!S, on the 8th day of April, 1969, . a public hearing was held in
the City Council room pursuant to said notice, and
WHEREAS, it is deemed to the best interest of the City of Okeechobee
to a'rant said application: now therefore
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEFCHOB;4;, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That the N. 60 feet of Lots 10, 11 and 12, Block 111,
Original Town of Okeechobee, be and are hereby rezoned. from Residential (R -1)-
to Commercial effective April 8th, 1969.
SECTION 2. That the application requesting rezoning and proof of
publication to amend Zoning Ordinance No. 271 published in connection
ti- *i._th the above application be attached to this Ordinance and become a
part hereof.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk make the apnropr_iate change on the
City Zoning Map in accordance with this Ordinance.

NOTICE is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, a
municipal corporation, will consider rezoning from RESIDENTIAL (R -1) to COMMERCIAL and to
amend accordingly the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance # 271 adopted November 21, 1955, the
following described real property, 'situate, lying and being within the corporate limits
of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, to -wit:
North 60 feet of Lots 10, 11 do 12 - Block ].41
Original Town of Okeechobee
and that a public hearing in relation thereto will be held at 8:00 P.M. on the 8th day
of April, 1969, in the City Council room, City Hall, Okeechobee, Florida, at which time

We have some problems, both immediate and contingent.
The primary step to be taken in connection with solving both
varieties is securing your approval of what we have in mind.
The problems are as follow:
(1) When Dan McCarthy built the "lean -to" addition to
his residence for use as an appliance showroom, he sort of
commandeered a few feet of street right of way on Tallahassee.
We are presently using this addition as our office area, and it
is a foregone conclusion it will have to be vacated and removed
from the street right -of -way. Which will leave us without an office.
(2) Dan's "barn" which he also used in the plumbing and
appliance business is an eyesore in the area, a firehazard and,
in combination, a definite emotional problem.
(3) Public facilities available for service and maintenace
of our delivery equipment are totally inadequate, and setting up
our own has become a matter of absolute survival necessity.
Therefore, we would like to replace the "barn" with a
Stransteel building of approximately the same width, an increase
in roof -line height not to exceed five feet, and an increase in
total length of thirty to thirty five feet.This will provide us
with office space against the day when removal of the present
structure is required, give us room for servicing our delivery
equipment and last, but not least, get rid of the barn.
In order that we may go forward with this project, your
approval of rezoning the north 60 feet of Lots 10, 11, & 12, -
Block 141, City of Okeechobee, from Resident*tl to Commercial is
respectfully requested.
