ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 402, BEING THE COMPREHEN-
SIVE ZONING ORDINANCE WHICH ESTABLISHES ZONING REGULATIONS
FOR THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA, AND PROVIDES FOR THE
ADMINISTRATION, ENFORCEMENT, AND AMENDMENT THEREOF. AMEND-
MENT CHANGES CLASSIFICATION OF SPECIFIED LAND FROM RESIDEN-
TIAL, GENERAL (RG -2) TO COMMERCIAL.
WHEREAS, application has been duly made to change the zoning
classification as hereinstated, and
WHEREAS, all public notices have been duly published ac-
cording to law, and
WHEREAS, public hearings have been held as required by
Ordinance 402, and
WHEREAS after consideration of the requirements of Ordinance
402 and the land use plan of the City of Okeechobee and the public
interest, it is deemed to be in the best interest of the City of
Okeechobee to change the zoning classification of the land lying
within the limits of the City of Okeechobee as hereinstated; now
therefore
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE,
FLORIDA.
SECTION 1. That the following described real property is
hereby rezoned from Residential, General (RG -2) to Commercial
to -wit:
Lots 1 and 2, Block 217, First Addition to the City
of Okeechobee as recorded in Plat Book 1, page 11,
Public Records of Okeechobee County, Florida. Parcel
No. 2: Situated in the City of Okeechobee, County of
Okeechobee, State of Florida and known as beginning
on the north line of 4th Street at the intersection of
the east line of S.W. Second Avenue (formerly Kissimmee
Street); thence running north along the east line of
S.W. 2nd Avenue a distance of 147.50 feet; thence east
paralleling 4th Street to the west line of Block 217
of the First Addition to the City of Okeechobee, Florida;
thence southerly along the west border of Block 217 to
the Point of Beginning.
SECTION 2. That the application requesting this Amending
Ordinance, and proof of publication for any and all public hear-
ings in connection herewith shall be attached to this Ordinance.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall make the appropriate change
on the city zoning map in accordance with this Ordinance.
SECTION 4. This Ordinance shall become effective immediate-
ly upon final passage.
DONE AND RESOLVED and made effective this 26th day of
February, 1980.

With no response to the Chairman's call for comments from the audience,
Councilman Knight moved to rezone Lots 1 and 2, Block 217, First Addition to
City of Okeechobee from Residential, General (RG -2) to Commercial, seconded by
Councilman Chapman, vote unanimous.
80 -31 BILL PEEPLES - CRIMINAL JUSTICE PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Mr. Bill Peeples, Criminal Justice Program Director, appeared before the
City Council to request the establishment, by resolution, of a "Combined Entitle-
ment Jurisdiction" for LEAA funding. The deadline for this is March 1, 1980.
Council to study issue and consult Attorney then notify Mr. Peeples.
80 -3 MARKHAM MOBILE HOME SUBDIVISION
The Markham Mobile Home Subdivision plot plan and Taylor Creek right-of-
way was presented requesting preliminary approval by its Attorney Tom Conely.
(Director of Public Works' recommendations are listed).
Attorney Conely requested an agreement on tap fees for anyone seeking to
tap into the main, sharing expenses so Markham might regain some of his invest-
ment.
