JAMES.- RG -2 to C -II (permitted 'principal use) Mr. Ottis James came before the Board and explained the location of his property. He explained that Mrs. James would like to locate her business to that location so they had started constructing a building. He had been told the zoning would have to be changed before the business could be opened. Walter Taylor stated that he thought the idea of the request was to seek the retail sales use on the subject property. Chairman Williamson explained that the subject property is just outside of an existing commercially zoned area with its existing RG -2 district. There were no letters and no questions or comments from the audience. Chairman Williamson stated that the subject property does touch corner to corner with existing commercial. He explained that better planning would be for the whole area to be rezoned to commercial, but Okeechobee county does not have a good mechanism to change the whole area based on the use of the properties in that area. Robert Hoover after having considered all factors made a motion to Recom- mend Approval based on factor item (f) Changed or changing conditions made the passage of the propo -ed amendment necessary. Seconded by Roger Jones. The vote was Unanimous to Recommend Approval. PETITION #235 -R - JOSEPH V. JONES - AC to RMH w /Special Exception and a Variance.
