BENNETT CITY CLERK RECESSED MEETING TUESDAY, AUGUST 24, 1976 The City Council of the City of 0keechobee, convened in recessed session in the Council Chamber at the City Hall, Okeechobee, Florida, on Tuesday, August 24, 1976, at 6:~0 P.M. President Russell V. Domer presiding. Councilmen E. H. Hunt, Edward W. Douglas, Lavon Bass and Clif Betts, Jr. were present. Others present were: Sandra Bennett, City Clerk; Sylvia Christian, Deputy Clerk; L. C. Fortner, Jr., Director of Public Works; Edward Chisholm, Chief of Police; 01en Godwin, Fire Chief and Bobby Dean, Assistant Fire Chief. FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION President Domer read two letters from The Florida Department of Transportation proposing to construct a highway lighting system on State Road 70 from N.E. 5th Ave. to Hamrick Street and questioning if the City is desirous of maintaining the system once it is constructed. Also advising the City that the proposed improvement on State Road 70 may requi~e relocation or adjustment of the City's utilities. Following discussion, Director Fortner was authorized to contact the Florida Power and Light Company regarding maintenance of the lighting system and to request a copy of the agreement from the Department for study. SPECIFICATIONS - REPAIR AND PAINTING WATER TANKS Director Fortner submitted specifications for cleaning and painting the City's two 250,000 gallons elevated water tanks for the Councils approval to be opened October 5, 1976. It was moved by Councilman Betts, seconded by Councilman Bass and vote carried to approve the specifications as submitted and authorized the advert- ising to be published. 2003. REZONING ORDINANCE - INTRODUCTORY AND FIRST READING President Domer presented on first reading amended Ordinance rezoning from Residential (R-l) to Residential (R-3) on property described as "Lots l, 2 and 5, Block 5, Royal Oak Division, Original Town of 0keechobee." Request by Gerald and Susan Koff. It was moved by Councilman Betts, seconded by Councilman Douglas and vote carried that the Ordinance be approved on first reading and notice of public hearing be advertised for September 21, 1976 at 7:00 P.M. REZONING ORDINANCE - INTRODUCTORY AND FIRST READING President Domer presented on first reading amended Ordinance rezoning from Industrial to Commercial on property described as " Lot 8, Block 58, Original Town of 0keechobee." Request by B. P. Abney, Sr. It was moved by Councilman Bass, seconded by Councilman Betts, and vote carried that the Ordinance be approved on first reading and notice of public hearing be advertised for September 2J, 1976 at 7:00 P.M.
