Chairperson Gamiotea called the July 8, 2014, Regular Meeting to order at 6:30 pm, in the City Council Chambers, located at 55 Southeast 31 Avenue, Room 200, Okeechobee, Florida. Pledge of Allegiance was led by Chairperson Gamiotea. Requests for the addition, deferral or withdrawal of items on today's agenda. VI. PUBLIC HEARING ITEMS. A. Disposition of Cases presented by Code Officer Sterling Case No.14-036 Shirley Johnson. 802 NW 111h Street Ch 30 Sec 30-44 General cleaning & beautification Code Officer Sterling requested the withdrawal of Case No.14-045 and 14-046, James Shockley Electrical from today's agenda due to compliance. This being a quasi-judicial proceeding, an oath was administered to those offering testimony, all responded affirmatively. Officer Sterling advised all events occurred within the corporate limits of the City of Okeechobee. The Officer's notes, testimony, photographs, and supporting documents were all entered as part of the official record. Officer Sterling testified service was via Notice of Violation/Notice of Hearing sent by certified mail and received by property owner's daughter. He stated the property owner, Shirley Johnson, told him on the phone today she was not aware of the violation and would get the property cleaned up right away. Therefore, Code Officer Sterling recommended the Board give her at least a week to bring the property into compliance. Member Denisuk moved to find Case No.14.036, Shirley Johnson, 802 NW 11" Street, in violation of Ch 30 Sec 30-44 General cleaning S beautification, based on the testimony of Code Officer Sterling, allowing twenty one (21) days from today to bring the property into compliance, if not in compliance by that date a fine of twenty five dollars per day would be imposed; seconded by Member Close. VOTE GAMIOTEA - YES CLOSE - YES CONRAD - ABSENT DENISUK - YES PIPPIN - ABSENT SWEDA - ABSENT SOAK - YES MOTION CARRIED.
