SPECIAL MEETING FRIDAY, JULY 50, 1976
The City Council of the City of 0keechobee, Florida, convened in special session
in the Council Chambers at the City Hall, Okeechobee, Florida, on Friday, July
50, 1976 at ]:50 P.M. President Russell Domer presiding. Councilmen E. H. Hunt,
Edward W. Douglas and Clif Betts, Jr. were present. Councilman Lavon Bass was
absent. Others present were: Audley Dunham, Mayor and Sandra M. Bennett, City
.... Clerk.
i President Domer declared the special meeting convened and explained the
purpose of the meeting: To appoint a Consulting Engineer for the purpose of
a new zoning Ordinance and for compliance to the Local Government Comprehensive
Planning Act; Also, to approve advertising for zoning requests and other matters
as may be brought before the meeting.
REZONING ORDINANCE - INTRODUCTORY AND FIRST READING
President Domer presented on first reading amended Ordinance rezoning from
Agricultural to Commercial for property described as "South ]00 ft. of Fractional
E½ of Block 2]7, First Addition to 0keechobee, Original Town of 0keechobee".
Requested by William W. Burton.
It was moved by Councilman Betts, seconded by Councilman Douglas and vote
carried that the Ordinance be approved on first reading and notice of public

REZONING ORDINANCE - INDRODUCTORY AND FIRST READING
President Domer presented on first reading amended Ordinance rezoning from
Agricultural to Commercial for property described as" Lots 4, 5 and 6, Block 5,
Original Town of 0keechobee". Requested by Buford War~.
It was moved by Councilman Hunt, seconded by Councilman Douglas and vote
carried that the Ordinance be approved on first reading and notice of public
hearing advertised for August 19, 1976 at ]:50 P.M.
REZONING ORDINANCE - INDRODUCTORYAND FIRST READING
President Domer presented on first reading amended Ordinance rezoning from
Residential (R-I) to Commercial for property described as "First Addition to
City of 0keechobee, Lots ]0, ]] and ]2, Block 220, Original Town of 0keechobee."
Request by W. C. Sherman, Executor of Roscoe L. Markham, Sr. Estate.
It was moved by Councilman Douglas, seconded by Councilman Betts and vote
carried that the Ordinance be approved on first reading and notice of public
hearing advertised for August 19, 1976 at ]:50 P.M.
REZONING ORDINANCE - INDRODUCTORY AND FIRST READING
President Domer presented on first reading amended Ordinance rezoning from
Agricultural to Commercial for property described as " Lots 5 and 6, Block 14,
Original Town of 0keechobee". Request by Zollie and Vineta Aidridge and Allen
H. Aldridge.
It was moved by Councilman Douglas, seconded by Councilman Betts and vote
carried that the Ordinance be approved on first reading and notice of public
hearing advertised for August 19, 1976 at ]:50 P.M.

REZONING ORDINANCE - INDRODUCTORY AND FIRST READING
President Domer presented on first reading amended Ordinance rezoning from
Residential (R-l) to Commercial on property located at "Lot 6, Block 143, Original
Town of 0keechobee". Request by Wallace W. Norton.
It was moved by Councilman Betts, seconded by Councilman Douglas and vote
carried that the Ordinance be approved on first reading and notice of public
hearing advertised for August 19, 1976 at 1:30 P.M.
LOCAL GOVERNMENT COMPREHENSIVE PLANNING ACT
BID TABULATION
President Domer reported that Mr. Ernest R. Bartley, Professor of Political
Science and Urban and Regional Planning, University of Florida and Gee & Jenson
Engineers of West Palm Beach had submitted bids for the new zoning Ordinance and
adoption of the Comprehensive Planning Act.
After reading the contract purposals from both parties, and following
discussion, it was moved by Councilman Douglas, seconded by Councilman Hunt and
vote carried to appoint Mr. Bartley.
LOCAL PLANNING AGENCY APPOINTMENT
It was moved by Councilman Hunt, seconded by Councilman Douglas and vote
carried to appoint the City Council members as the Local Planning Agency
until other members may be appointed.
STREET LIGHTS
It was reported of a request for vapor lamps at 3]2 S. E. 8th Ave., 400 S.E.
8th Ave. and 407 NW 2nd Ave.
It was moved by Councilman Betts, seconded by Councilman Douglas and vote
carried to approve the request for vapor lamps amd requested the City Clerk to
notify the Florida Power and Light Company of Council action.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, President Domer declared the meeting
adjourned at 2:30 P.M.
