1975-04-10 Recessed 1835 April 10, 1975 The City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florid&, met in a recessed session on the above date at the City Hall at 6:30 P.M. with the followin9 present: President Russell V. Do,er, Councilmen: B. H. Hunt, Lavon Bass.and Clif Botts, Jr. Also in atten- dance were: City Clerk Sandra Bennett, Attorney David Conlon ,:-Director o~ Pu]~lic Works L. C. Fortner, Jr. and Chief of Police Dewitt Staats. Pursuant to Notice published in The Okeechobee News reDardin9 an invitation to bid on the purchase of 2 - 1975 Automobiles. Bids were received, opened and read from the followtn9: Gilbert Chevrolet. Yter discussion, Councilman Bass moved to accept the bid from Okeechobee Motor on the Two 1975 Ford Torino 4 door sedan with 400 cu. in. Engine with 2 BBL Carb. for $8,436.00 and trade in one of the 1973 Chevrolet Police cars, seconded by Councilman Botts and carried. P~d ~lo~i~ 6'~ ~as ~lo~in, (Tons) The Council requested Director Fortner to tabulate bids and return a recommen- dation, afterwhich Director Fortner returned and recommended the bid from Apperson Chemicals, Inc. be accepted. Upon recomndation of Director Fortner, Councilman Hunt ~oved to award the bid to Apperson Chemicals, Inc. be accepted, seconded by Councilman Betts and carried. There being no further business, The Council adjourned to uet in a recessed meeting Tuesday, April 22, 1975 at 7:00  7 PRESIDENT CITY COUNCIL ATTEST: _ CITY CLERK April 22, 1975 The City Council of The City of Okeechobee, Florida, convened in regular session at the City Hall this 22nd day of April, 1975 at 7:00 P.M. Those present were President Russell V. Domer, Councilmen: E. H. Hunt, Edward W. Douglas, Lavon Bass and Clif Betts, Jr.. Also in attendance were: City Clerk Sandra Bennett, Attorney David Conlon and Director of Public Works, L. C. Fortner Jr. President Domer opened the meeting with invocation by Councilman Bou~,as. Mr. Lothian Ager and Mr. Vergil L. Hayes were first on the agenda. They reported that mmintenance operation of The City in respect to edging of sidewalks and application of chemicals to control the growth of grass on South West 3rd Avenue and South of South West 8th Street have caused undue damage to oak trees along the sidewalks. President Domer stated that Mr. Hunt, Director Fortner and himself had inspected the trees earlier. President Domer also stated that the label on the container of chemicals implied that the chemical could be used near valuable trees. [ Director Fortner was asked to report. ~He stated that the salesman would be in Okeechobee Wednesday to inspect the trees. The Council informed 14r. Hayes and Mr. Ager that they would check into the matter and report their findings to them. A representative of High Chapperal Music Den was next on the agenda. He requested an occupational license for a mobile retail sales in Dean's Court. He stated that High Chapperal had licenses in Indian River County, Fort Pierce, Fellsmere County and Okeechobee County. He informed the Council that there wouldn't be any soliciting house to house. The Clerk was directed to issue High Chapperal Music Den an occupational license. Mr. John Clark, Chief Engineer of United Telephone Company was recognized. He stated that their Attorneys, Henderson, Franklin, Starnes and Holt had informed them that they had
