0120 (License o TStreet Tax )ORDINANCE NO. /D AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING LICENSE OR STREET TAX IN CERTAIN CASES IN THE CITY OF OKEE- CHOBEE, FLORIDA; MAKING IT A VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE TO OPERATE ON THE STREETS OF SAID CITY WITHOUT HAVING PROCURED SUCH LICENSE AND PROVIDING PENALTY FOR THE VIO- LATION THEREOF. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA. Section 1. Any person, persons, firm, firms, associa- tion or corporation selling any goods, wares or merchandise for human use or consumption within the corporate limits of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, when and where such goods, wares or merchandise are retailed or wholesaled from con - veyances which use the streets of said city for delivery to the retailer or the consumer of such goods, wares, merchan- dise or other articles for human use or consumption, which said person, persons, firm, firms, associations or corpora- tions do not have regularly established and licensed places of business within the corporate limits of the City of Okee- chobee, Florida, be and the same are hereby required to pay a license fee and /or street tax in the sum of $2,101 per annum. The license or street tax herein provided for shall be due and payable on the first day of January of each and every wear and no part year or proportionate license or tax can be paid or accepted, except that after the first day of July of each and every year one -half of the amount provided for in the preceding paragraph of this section may be paid and ac- cepted for the remainder of such year, and further provided that for the current year, to-wit: 1927, one -half of such amount provided in Section One (1) of this Ordinance shall be collected and paid. Section 2. Any person, persons, firm, firms, associa- tion or corporation operating and selling any such goods, wares or merchandise as and in the manner set out in Section One of this Ordinance without having first procured and paid the license or street tax hereinbefore provided for, shall be guilty of a violation of this Ordinance and, upon convic- tion thereof, shall be subject to a fine of not exceeding One Hundred ($100.00) or imprisonment in the City Jail for not exceeding sixty days, or by both such fine and imprison- ment in the discretion of the Mayor. Section 3. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. Read a first time in open, regular session of the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, and by unanimous vote passed to a second reading. Read a second time and by unanimous vote passed to a third and final reading. Read a third time and passed in open, regular session of the City Council this 6th day of September, A. D. 1927.
