AN ORDINANCE MAEING IT UNLAWFUL TO OBTAIN FOOD OR
LODGING WITH INTENTION. TO DEFRAUD; PRESCRIBING WHAT SHALL
BE PRIMA FACIE EVIDENCE OF FRAUDULENT INTENT;- AND PROVIDING
A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION HEREOF.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA:
Section 1.
It shall be and is hereby made unlawful and a violation
of this Ordinance for any person to obtain food, lodging, or
other accommodations at any hotel, .inn, boarding or eating
house within the corporate limits of the City of Okeechobee,
Florida, with intent to defraud the owner or keeper thereof.
Section 2.
In prosecutions made under Section One of this Ordinance
proof that lodging, food, or other accommodations were obtained
by false pretense or by false or fictitious show or pretense
of any baggage or other property, or that the defendant
absconded without paying or offering to pay for such food,
lodging or other accommodations, or that he or she surreptitiously
removed or attempted to remove his or her baggage,$y prima
facie evidence of fraudulent intent mentioned in Section One
of this Ordinance.
Section 3.
Any person violating Section One of this Ordinance upon
conviction thereof shall be punished by imprisonment in the
city jail not to exceed sixty (60) days, or by fine not exceeding
One Hundred Dollars, or by both such fine and imprisonment
in the discretion of the Mayor.
Section 4.
This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its
passage and approval by the Mayor.

second reading.
Read a Second time and by unanimous consent passed to
a third and final reading.
Read a third time and passed in open session of the City
Council, this 15th day of February, A. D. 1927.
