0114 (Declaring houses of ill fame)ORDINANCE NUMBER 114 AN ORDINANCE DECLARING HOUSES OF ILL FAME, HOUSES OF PROSTITUTION, AND GAMBLING AND DISORDERLY HOUSES A NUISANCE AND OR NUISANCES AND PROVIDING FOR THE CLOSING THEREOF; DECLARING WHAT SHALL BE PRIMA FACIE: EVIDENCE OF THE EXISTENCE OF SUCH HOUSES; PROVIDING CONDITIONS FOR THE ARREST OF THE INMATES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF 0 CHOBEE, FLORIDA. Section 1. It is the opinion of the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida that houses of ill fame, houses of prostitution, gambling and disorderly houses are dangerous to the public morals , public health, public safety and general welfare of the residents and citizens of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, and are a public nuisance when and if located within the corporate limits of the City of Okeechobee, Florida. It shall be and is hereby made unlawful for any person, persons, firm or corporation to own or operate a house or houses of ill fame, or house or houses of prostitution or gambling or disorderly houses within the corporate limits of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, and such houses be and the same are hereby declared nuisances. Section 2. The Chief of Police of the City of Okeechobee, Florida is hereby empowered and it is made his duty to remove the inmates or tenants of a house of ill fame, house of prostitution, gambling or dis- x orderly house therefrom, and to close and bar the doors and windows of any such house. Section 3. The frequenting of a house having the reputation of being a house of ill fame or a house ^O prostitution by men who do not reside e &t ouch house,_between tie hours -of ten o'clock P. M. and fives - ..,. ,..__ o*clock A. M. shall be prima facie evidence that it is a house of i11 fame or a house of prostitution and the frequenting of such houses by men as set out in this section hereinbefore, when seen by any police officer of the City of Okeechobee, Florida shall be con- '4110, sidered a breach of the peace in the presence of the officer and au- thorize and empower such officer to arrest all persons in such house or hoes as inmates thereof without a warrant, and shall authorize and, empower such officer to enter such elgise for 'the purpose of making M • such arrest or arrests. 1 Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor.
