0129 (Electrical Inspector)
ORDINANCE NO. /2-4' AN ORDINANCE, amending Ordinance No. 65 of the Ordinanoes of the City of Okee©hobee, Florida,, being an Ordinance providing for the appointment of an Electrical Inspector for the City of Okeechobee, Florida; defining his duties, also making it unlawful for any person, persons, firm or corporation, to install any electric wires, lights, fixtures or conneotions, without first obtaining a permit for same issued by the Electrical Inspector countersigned by the City Clerk under seal, and the payment of the fees for such permit; providing for any violation thereof, and its enforcement. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. That Section One of Ordinance No. 65 of the Ordinanoes of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, is hereby amended to read as follows: " Section 1. That it shall be the duty of the City Council, at any regular meeting\ thereof, when in the opinion of the City Council, that it is necessary, to appoint a City Electrical Inspector, whose duties shall be to examine all applications for permits to install electric wires, lights, and fixtures, in buildings within the City of Okeechobee, Florida, and if found competent as an eleotraian, to do such work, then he shall issue a permit, in writing, to such person, persons, firm or corporation, to do such work within the City of Okeechobee, Florida, said permit shall be countersigned by the City Clerk under seal, and said City Clerk shall, before delivering said permit or permits, collect a fee of $ 1.00 for same, which said fee shall be paid into the General Fund of said City, and such permit shall entitle they holder thereof, to do and perform all electrical wiring and other installing of electrical wires, and other fixtures, up to and including the first ten outlets, in any building or structure within the City of Okeechobee, Florida, subject, however, to the final inspection, by the Oity Electrical Inspector, who is hereby authorised to accept all work properly installed, and to condemn all work not satisfactory and require the same to be removed or properly installed within such time as in his judgment may be necessary or reasonable, and no electric wires or other electrical equipment so installed shall be used until finally approved by the City Electrical Inspector; All holders of permits under the provisions of this Ordinance shall be required to leave all joints, splices and other connections open until the said City Electrical Inspector shall have made a roughed- in Inspection. If, upon final inspection, the said City Electrical Inspector shall find more than ten outlets installed, under any one permit, then he shall require the holder of such permit to pay an additional fee of ten cents for each outlet,over ten, to the City Clerk and such additional fee shall be deposited in the General Fund of said City of Okeechobee, Florida; and the said City Electrical Inspector shall not give his final approval until said additional fee has been paid "." SECTION 2. That Section Two of Ordinance No. 65 of the Ordinances of the Oity of Okeechobee, Florida, is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 2. That it shall be unlawful for any person, persons, firm or corporation to install any electrical wiring or other fixtures or lights, in any building or structure, within the City of Okeechobee, Florida, without having first acquired a permit as defined in Section One and complying with other provisions in said Section One of this Ordinance ". SECTION 3. This'Ordinance shall become effective upon its passage find approval by the Mayor. Read a first time and by unanimous consent passed to a seoond reading.
