0141 (Licenses & Taxes )O R D I N A N C E N O AN ORDINANCE IMPOSING AND PROVIPING FOR TNT COLLECTION OF CERTAIN LICENSES AND OTHER TAXES IN T SE CITY OF OKTEO ?OBEE; PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR DOING BUSINESS WIT!OUT LICENSE AND REPEALING ANT ORDINANC`: IN CONFLICT !EREWITN, Section 1. No person, firm or corporation shall engage in or manage any business, profession or occupation mentioned in this ordi- nance within the corporate limits of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, unless a City License shall have been procured from the Tax Collector of said City and attested in the name of the City Clerk and the corporate seal of said City impressed there- on by the City Clerk, whose fee for attesting and placing the seal thereon shall be twenty -five cents, paid by the person or persons, firm or corporation taking out said license. Section 2. All licenses shall be payable on or before the first day of January of each year, and no license shall be issued for any fractional portion of a year except as otherwise nrofided in. this ordinance, and except that any license not otherwise specified may be issued after the first day of July to expire January first upon payment of one -half of the amount fixed as a price of such license for one year. Section 3. All licenses may be transferred with the approval of the City Clerk, with business for which they were taken out *hen there is a bona-fide sale and transfer of the property ust nd employed in the business as stock in trade but such transfe_ yd license sh&11 not be good for any longer time or for any other place than that for which it was originally issued. Section 4. The payments of a license under this ordinance shall not legalize gambling or the sale of intoxicating liauors. Section 5. EveryAdealer in gasoline or other light products of petro- leum in the City of Okeechobee, Florida, under whatever name designated, shall pay a license tax of FIVE DOLLARS per annum. Section 6. Every person, firm or corporation dealing in crate materiel or other receptacle used for packing and shipping of fruits or vegetables or other commodity, shall pay a license tax of FIVE DOLLARS, per annum. Section 7. Every person, firm: or corporation conducting a hotel or rooming house in the City of Okeechobee, Florida, containing accomodations for five persons and less than ten persons, shall pay a license tax in the sum of $2.50 per annum. Section &. Every person, firm or corporation engaged in the keeping, storing, caring for or reparing automobiles or other vehicles propelled by gasoline, belonging to the license tax of FIVE DOLLARS per annum. Section 9. All confirmed cripples or invalids, ublic, shall ray a physical incapable of manual labor, or all Confederate veterans of the Civil War, and widows who are dependent upon their own exertions, shall be allowed to engage in any legitimate business in the City of Okeechobee, Florida, without paying a license to do so. Section 10. Any person, firm or corporation engaging in any business herein mentioned, without first securing a license as provided in this Ordinance, shall be punished as provided in Ordinance nurber 126, Section 6. Section 11. All Ordinances in conflict with the provisions herein contained are hereby expressly repealed. Section 12. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage by the City Council of Okeechobee, Florida, and approval by the Mayor thereof.
