0161 (Collection & Payment of Licenses )IP ORDINANCE NO. LC/ AN ORDINANCE IMPOSIPTG LICENSES AND OTHER TAXES, PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT AND COLLECTION THEREOF AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR DOING BUSINESS :WITHOUT LICENSE OR OTHER FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THE PROVISIONS THEREOF. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA. Section 1. That in addition to the licenses imposed under the provisions of Ordinance #126 of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, the following licenses are hereby required: ITINERANT MERCHANTS — Cash bond in the amount of Five Hundred (0500.00) Dollars in addition to license fee as prescribed in Ordinance #126 of the City of Okeechobee, Florida. Solicitors, Canvassers or other persons who solicit orders to sell, by sample or otherwise, for furniture, house- hold gootqs, builders supplies, musical instruments or other goour —:tires, merchandise, at retail, representing business houses outside of the City of 0I- eechobee, Florida, shall pay an annual license of $100.00. SECTION 2. No license shall be issued to any person, firm, association, co— partnership anchor corporation for any business, profession or occupation under this Ordinance unless and until the applicant for such license shall have paid all personal property taxes, which have been assessed by the City of Okeechobee Florid, against the property to be used in said business, profession or occupation, and in the event such business, firm, association, co— partnership and /or corporation shall not have paid personal property taxes for at least one year prior to the issuance of such license, such person, firm, association, co- partnership and /or corporation shall, prior to the issuance of said license furnish the Tax Collector of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, with a cash bond payable to said City of Okeechobee in the sum of Five Hundred($500.00) Dollars conditioned upon the payment of personal property taxes for that period of time in said fiscal year during which such person, firm, association, co- partnership and /or corporation shall do business. SECTION 3. All licenses issued under the provisions of this Ordinance shall be payable, and shall be issued, at the time and in the manner specified in Ordinance #126 of the City of Okeechobee, Florida. SECTION 4. Any person, firm, association, co- partnership and /or corporation operating any of the business above specified in the City of Okeechobee who shall fail or refuse tc pay the license herein set forth shall be punishable by fine not exceeding $150.00 or by imprisonment not exceeding sixty days or by both such fine or imprisonment, in the discretion of the Mayor. SECTION �. All Ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith by, and the same are hereby repealed, PROVIDED HOWEVER, that this "rdinance is supplementary to Ordinance #126 of the City of Okeechobee and repeals only such parts of said Ordinance as are in conflict herewith.
