AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE LEVY AND COLLECTION
OF TAXES FOR THE YEAR 1948 FOR THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE,
FLORIDA.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That the City of Okeechobee, Florida,
hereby levies a tax of 23 mills on each dollar
valuation of real and personal property within cor-
porate limits of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, for
the year 1948; such taxes shall be assessed and collect-
ed in the manner provided by law, PROVIDED HOWEVER, that
taxes shall be assessed against homesteads, having valua-
tions of not more than $5,000.00, for the General Fund
of said City.
SECTION 2. That 8 mills of such tax shall be used for
General City purposes and shall be assessed for the
General Fund of said City. That 15 mills of such tax
shall be assessed for the interest and sinking fund for
the payment of interest and principal of General Refund-
ing Bonds, Issue of 1942, of said City.
SECTION 3. It shall be the duty of the tax collector of
said City and the City Clerk, to divide the proceeds re-
ceived from said taxes as aforesaid, into the funds set
out in Section 1 of this Ordinance and keep full and
correct account of the same as they may be directed by
the City Council.
SECTION 4. All ordinances, or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith be, and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect upon its passage by the City Council and approval
by the Mayor.
PASSED AND ADOPTED in regular session this 4th
day of October, A. D. 1948.
