0199 (Taxes)t ORDINANCE NO. /j AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE LEVY AND COLLECTION OF TAXES FOR THE YEAR 1939 FOR THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA: Section 1. That / the City of Okeechobee, Florida, 6 hereby levies a tax of 2 mills on each dollar valuation of real and personal property within the corporate limits of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, for the year 1939, such taxes shall be assessed and collected in the manner provided by law, PROVIDED HOWEVER, that no taxes shall be assessed against homesteads having a valuation of Five Thousand 05,000.00) Dollars and less, and homesteads having a valua.t'-n of more than $5,000.00 shall not be taxed on the first $5,000.00, as hereinbefore provided, except as nrovided in Section 2, of this Ordinance. Section 2. That Z7 mills of such tax shall be used for General City purposes and shall be assessed for the General Fund of said City. That ten (10) mills of such tax shall be assessed for the payment and satisfaction of that certain Judgment obtained by Yeoman's Mutual Life Insurance Company, against the City of Okeechobee, Florida; said Judgment issued out of the U. 5. District Court of the Southern District of Florida., a copy of which is recorded in the office of the Clerk of Circuit Court of Okeechobee County, Florida; that five (5) mills of such tax shall be used for the payment of the balance due on that certain judgment of the Pauly Jail Building Company, a Corporation, which said Judgment is recorded in the office of the Clerk of Circuit Court of Okee- chobee County, Florida; that five (5) mills of such tax shall be used to apply on that certain judgment obtained, and owned, by Eureka Fire Hose Manufacturing Company, in the Circuit Court of Okeechobee County, Florida; that fifteen (15) mills of such tax shall be assessed for the payment and satisfaction of that certain judgment obtained by E. T. McGaulley, against the City of Okeechobee, Florida; said Judgment issued out of the U. S. District Court of the Southern District of Florida, a copy of which is recorded in the office of the Clerk of Circuit Court of Okeechobee County, Florida; said levy of fifteen (15) mills shall be assessed against all homestead property, regardless of value, within the City of Okeechobee, Florida. Section 3. It shall be the duty of the Tax Collector and City Clerk to divide the proceeds received from seid tax as aforesaid into the funds set out in the preceding section and keep full and correct account of same as theymay be directed by the City Council. Section 4. All Ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be, and the same are, hereby repealed. Section 5. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its passage by the City Council and approval by the Mayor.
