0177 (Taxes)ORDINANCE NO. / 7 7 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE LEVY AND COLLECTION OF TAXES FOR THE YEAR 1936, FOR THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA :. BE IT ORDAPNED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHIBEE, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. That the City of Okeechobee, Florida, hereby levies a tax of 45 mills on each dollar valuation of real and personal property within the corporate limits of the said City of Okee- chobee, Florida, for the tax year 193. Such tax shall be assessed and collected in the manner provided y law, PROVIDED, However, that no tax shall be assessed against Homesteads having a valuation of 5,000.00 and less, and Homeste ds having a valuation of more than 5,000.00 shall not be taxed o0/the first $5,000.00, except as hereinafter provided. SECTION 2. That 19 mills of such tax shall be used for General City purposes and shall be assessed forjthe general Fund of said City; That 10 mills shall be assessedt'the payment and satisfaction of that certain Judgment obtained by Yeomans Mutual Life Insurance Company against the said City of Okeechobee, Florida, which said Judgment issued out of the U. S. District Court of. the Southern District of Florida, a copy of which is recorded in the office of the Clerk of Circuit Court of Okeechobee County, Florida; That 8 mills of such tax shall be used for ad is made pursuant to an Alternative Writ of Mandamu &issued` oY the Circuit Court of Okeechobee County, Florida, on the h^ day of October, A. D. 1936, on the re- lation of H. J. Rice, whit said Alternative Writ of Mandamus re- quires the City of Okeechobee to include a sufficient amount and /or tax levy to pay offend discharge the indebtedness of said City to said Relator, and the said City shall make said assessment against all real and personal property, including homesteads, within said City; that 5 mills of such tax shall be used for the payment of balance due on that certain judgment of the Pauly Jail Building Company, a corporation, which said judgment is of record in the office of the Clerk of Circuit Court of Ole echobee County, Florida; That 3 mills of such tax shall be used for and is made pursuant to an Alternative Writ of Mandamus issued ,hut of the Circuit Court of Okeechobee County, Florida, on the 3J day of A qqv,$) 1936, on the relation of Eureka Fire Hose Manufacturing CGfnpany, which said Alternative writ requires the City of Okeechobee to include a sufficient amount to pay off and discharge the indebtedness of said City to said Relator. SECTION 3. It shall be the duty of the Tax Collector and City Clerk to divide the proceeds received from said tax as aforesaid into the funds set out in the preceding section and keep full and correct account of same as they may be directed by the City Council. SECTION 4. All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict here- with be, and the same are, hereby repealed. SECTION 5.
