0205 (Insurance Agent Licenses)ORDINANCE NO. c, °S_ AN ORDIT4ANCE IMPOSING LICENSES ON ALL INSURANCE COMPANIES OR AGENTS OF SAIr COMPANIES DOING BUSI?:E `3 OR .:AINTAINING AN AGENCY IN THE CITY OF OKEECHOBE'°:, FLORIDA., PROVIDING FOR THE ASSESSMENT AND COLLECTION OF SAID LICENSES AND PREg SCRIBING PENALTIES FOR DOING BUSINESS WITHOUT FIRST OBTAINING A LICENSE OR OF FAILURE TO COMPLY '; iTH THE PROVIBIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE ,AY OR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA: Section 1. No 'person, firm or corporation shall enFege in, manage or operate any insurance, agency or write insurance within the corporate limits of the Citr of Okee- chobee until such company or agent shall have procured from the Tex Collector of the C ty of Okeechobee a license authorizing such person or persons, firm or cornor-tion to carry on the business of insurance within the said City of Okeechobee. Section 2. All licenses stall be payable. on or before the first day of January of each year, and no license shall be issued for any fractional portion of s year except tb t any Person annlying for a license after= the first day of July to expire the followirg January first shall be entitled to obtain a license upon payment of one -half of the amount fixed es the price of such license for one year. Section 3. All licenses may be transferred with the approval of the City Clerk when there is a bona fide sale and transfer of the agency but such transferred license shell not be good for any longer time or for any other place then that for which it was originally issue''. Section 4. Each insurance company or a.p.ent of any insurance company engaged in the business of insurance wit} in the corporate limits of the City of Okeec obee shi ^11 pay a license tax of 810.00 per annum. Section 5. Any person or , -)ersons dealing in in- surance within the said City of Okeechobee without first obtaining a. license for each company represented shall be deemed guilty of the violation of this ordinance and upon conviction shall be punished by fine not to exceed 450.00 or by imprisonment not to exceed 30 days or both such fine and imprisonment in the discretion of the Mayor. Section 6. All ordinances or parts of ordinances, in conflict herewithbe, and the same are hereby repealed. Section 7. This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its passage by the City Council and approval by the Mayor or upon its becoming a law without such approval.
