0259 (Taxes)ORDINANCE, NO., L C AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE LEVY AND COLLECTION OF TAXES FOR THE YEAR 1953 FOR 'IHE CITY OF OKEE- CHOBEE, FLORIDA. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECW)BEE, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. That the City of Okeechobee, Florida, hereby levies a tax of 23 mills on each doll9.r valuation of real and personal property within the corporate limits of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, for the year 1953; such taxes shall be assessed and collected in the manner provided by law, PROVIDED HOWEVER, that no taxes shall be assessed againest homesteads, having a valuation of not more than $5,000.00 for the General Fund of said City. SECTION 2. That 8 mills of such t ax shall be used for Genaal City purposes and shall be assessed for the Gen- eral Fund of said City. That 15 mills of such tax shall be assessed for the interest and sinking fund for the payment of interest and principal of General Refunding Bonds, Issue of 1942, of said City. SECTION 3. It shall be the duty of the Tax Collector of said City and the City Clerk of said City. to divide the proceeds received from s aid taxes as aforesaid, into the funds set out in Section 1 of this Ordinance and keep full and correct account of same as they may be directed by the City Council. SECTION 4i All Ordinances, or parts of Ordinances, in conflict herewith be, and the same are hereby repealed. SECTION 5. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its passage by the City Council and approval by the Mayor. PASSED AND ADOPTED in regular session this 14th d ay of September, A. D. 1953.
