0270 (Taxes)ORDINANCE NO. 270 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE LEVY AND COLLECTION OF TAXES FOR THE YEAR 1955 FOR THE CITY OF OK EC ~IOBEE, FLORIDA. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND TFE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEEC OBEE, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. That the City of Okeechobee, Florida, here- by levies a tax ofl3.5 mills on each dollar valuation of real and personal property within the corporate limits of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, for the year 1955; such taxes shall be assessed and collected in the manner provided by law, PROVIDED HOWEVER, that no taxes shall be assessed against homesteads, having a valuation of not more than $5,000,00 for the General Fund of said City. SECTION 2. That 8.5 mills of such tax shall be used for General City purposes and shall be assessed for the Gen- eral Fund of said City. That 5 mills of such tax 811411 be assessed for the interest and sinking fund for the pay- ment of interest and principal of General Refunding Bonds, Issue of 1942, of said City. SECTION 3. It shall be the duty of the Tax Collector of said City and the City Clerk of said City, to divide the proceeds received from said taxes as aforesaid, into the funds set out in Section 1 of this Ordinance and keep full and correct account of same as they may be directed by the City Council. SECTION 4. All Ordinances, or parts of Ordinances, in con- flict herewith be, and the same are hereby repealed. SECTION 5. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon its passage by the City Council and approval by the Mayor. Passed and adopted in regular adjourned session this 26th day of October A. D. 1955.
