0391 (Court Costs)ORDINANCE NO. 391 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 13 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE BY ADDING A NEW SECTION TO SLID CHAPTER 13 TO BE KNOWN AS SECTION 13 -8 PROVIDING FOR THE ASSESSMENT OF ONE DOLLAR AS COURT COSTS AGAINST EVERY PER- SON CONVICTED OF VIOLATING A MUNICIPAL ORDINANCE, TO BE USED FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT EDUCATION PURPOSES. WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Florida enacted what is now Chapter 69 -111, Florida Statutes, authorizing municipalities to assess the additional sum of one dollar as costs against all persons convicted in the municipal court of any city for violation of a municipal ordinance, said amount to be used for law enforcement education expenses for law enforcement officers; and WHEREAS, the City of Okeechobee wishes to implement the provisions of said Chapter 69 -111 of the Florida Statutes, so as to provide additional funds for the education and training of law enforcement officers in said City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE 22 ORDAINED BY WE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEE- CHOBEE, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. That the Judge of the Municipal Court of the City of Okee- chobee be and its hereby agthorized to assess, in addition to the other court eosts assessed against persons convicted in said court of the violation of ar;q municipal ordinance of said city, the sum of one dollar, to be used for law enforcement education expensee for the law enforcement officers of said city as provided by Section 18 of the Chapter 69 -111 of the laws of the State of Florida. SECTION 2. All funds derived from the assessing of costs as in this Ordinance provided shall be remitted to the City Clerk and by her kept in a special fund to be known as Law Enforcement Education Fund, which shall be expended only for such purposeb. SECTION 3. All Ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith or inconsistent with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed. SECTION 4. This Ordinance shall become effective November 9, 1976. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, this 9th day of November, 1976.
