AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE INSPECTION OF BUILDINGS
INSPECTION FEES TO BE PAID BY THE OWNERS OP BUILDINGS; PRE-
SCRIBING THE AMOUNTS OF SUCH FEES ArD MAKING SUCH FEES A LIEN
ON TEE BUILDING INSPECTED, AND PROVIDING FOR Ti ENFORCELENT
OF SUCH LIENS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE 4AYOR AND TEE CITY COU: CIL OF
TEE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA.
Section 1. From and after the passage and approvals
this ordinance the City Building inspector of the City of
Okeechobee shall, and is hereby required to inspect all build-
ings under construction,at the time of the passage hereof,
and all buildings erected wholly or in part after the passage
hereof. Such inspection or inspections shall be made by the
building inspector as often as may be necessary in order to
ascertain whether or not such building or buildings are being
erected in compliance to the building ordinances of the city
of Okeechobee.
The term: building as used herein shall be construed
to include not only new buildings but any extensions or en-
largement of a building already erected.
Section 2. That there is hereby assessed against
any building being erected or to be erected in the City of
Okeechobee as set out in Sec. 1 of this ordinance, an inspection
fee as follows:
Buildings costing up to and including p25,000.00,
one half of l of the cost of such building.
Buildings costing from ;25,000.00 to and including

4100, 000.00, one half of 1 for the first 425, 000.00 of the
cost of such buildings, and one fourth of 1 of the remaining
cost thereof;
Buildings costing above 4100,000.00, one half of 1
for the first 425, 000.00, one fourth of 1'o from 425, 000.00 to
4100,00.00, and one eighth of 1(; for all over 0100,000.00.
Such fees shall be paid by the owner, builder, or
contractor to the City building inspector, and shall be paid
in full within five days after such building is completed.
Section 3. The owner of any building now under con-
struction, or hereafter constructed is required to show to the
building inspector upon the request of such inspector any plans,
contracts, or other information or data tending to show the
cost of any such building.
Section 4. The fees for inspection of buildings,
as set out herein, be and the same is hereby made and declared
a lien upon and against the real estate on which such building
is constructed, which lien shall be enforced in the manner pro-
vided by law. Said lien shall become such upon and after the
first inspection made by the building inspector, and shall
remain such until paid, but shall not be subject to foreclosure
until after five days from the completion of the building,
after which time it shall be enforced in the manner provided
by law for the enforcement of liens generally.
Section 5. This ordinance is declared severable, and
if any line, sentence, section, or paragraph be held invallid
it shall not affect the remainder hereof.
Section 6. This ordinance shall take effect upon its
passage and approval by the mayor.
