Section I. The Layor and City Council of the City of
Okeechobee, Florida, subject to the provisions of law and this
01dinance are hereby authorized to issue bonds of said. City,
under the seal of said corporation in the amounts and for the
purposes as foliose's.
I. Ninety thousand (90,000,00) Dollars for the
extension and expansion of the water system of the City
of Okeechobee, Florid.a, for the purpose of furnishing
water and fire protection, for erecting waterworks,
laying water mains, purchasing land for erecting the same
thereon and for all other necessary purposes in connection
therewith.,
2. Ten thousand. (110,000.00) Dollars for the
repair, construction, exten$ion and expansion of sew-
erage including all connections upon certain avenues,
streets and alleyways or parts thereof in the City of
Okeechobee, Florida, in all its details; for the pur-
pose of paying the City's portion of such improvements,

the balance of two-thirds of the cost of cons tructibn o4 f 11.0
all new sewerage lines or mains to be whared against the
NNW abutting property by issuance of lien certificates in
the amount of one-third. of said expenses to the property an
each side.

3. Fourteen Thousand (4a4,000.00) Dollars
for the erection of a municipal building in and for
the City of okeechobee, Florida, for the purpose of
providing adequate quarters for the City Government
and the Fire Department, purchasing land for erecting
the same thereon, and for all other necessary pur-
posee in connection therewith.
4. Three Thousand (3,000.00) Dollars for a more
adequate fire protection for the City of Okeechobee,
Florida, purchase of engines, nose and otner
necessary equipment, and for meeting payments on
equipment previously purchased.
5. Five thousand (5,000.00) Dollars for the main-
taining of the City larks of the City of okeechobee,
Florida, including the purchasing and leasing of land
therefor and all other things necessary to improve the
Park system.
6. Fifty thousand ($50,000.00) Dollars for opening,
widening or paving in all its details, certain avenues,
streets-or parts thereof in the City of Okeechobee, Florida;
for the purpose of paying the City's portion of such improv-
ments, the balance of two-thirds of the cost of construction
of all Avenues, streets or parts thereof to be charged a-
gainst the abutting 'property by issuance of lien certificate
in the amount of one-third of said expenses to the property
on each side.

ident of the City Council and attested by the Clerk of said. City

lithographed on said interest coupons. The amount of said bends
shall not cxcd 172,000.00.
Sedtion 11. The Mayor shall, as soon as prcticable,
after the passage and approval of this Ordinance issue his
ieroclamation eallingAa special election for the City of
pkeechobee, Florida, to be held not less than thirty days from
the date of said proclamation for the purpose of submitting to
he electors of said. City, the approval or rejection of the
issuance of the bonds provided far in section one of this
Ordinance. Said notice shall be published in the Okeechobee
Flews, a newspaper published in said. City, said call to be pub-
ished in five successive issues of said newspaper immediately
rior to date of election.

Section IV. The Mayor in his proclamation calling for the
election herein provided shall name three electors of the City
of Okeechobee, who snail act as inspectors of said election
and a Clerk thereof. Should any of the inspectors or Clerk' so
appointed fail or refuse to qualify the Mayor is authorized at
any time prior to the opening of the polls to name additional
inspectors or clerk. The inspectors conducting the election
aforesaid shall immediately after the polls have closed count the
votes for and against each project oi tne proposed bond issue and
immediately certify the result of the same to the City Council.
SectionV. At the election to be held as provided in this
Ordinance only persons who are registered and aualified voters
under the lags of the State of Florida, and nave paid their poll
tax for the luat.two years; and have resided within the corporate
limits of the of Okeechobee for six monthsprior to said
election, and who are bona fide owners of real estate,
(freeholders) within the limits of said. City of Okeechobee, and
who nave paid the taxes, State, County and City last due thereon,
and actually voting, shall have a right to vote in said election.
The City Clerk shall, twenty days prior to Laid election,
open the registration books at the City 1:all, and keep the same
open for eight hours on each week day, for the registration of
electors; and snail close the same ten days prior to said election,
said. Clerk shall have full power to administer oaths to all perso
applying for registration.
Section VI. The bonds issued under the provisions of this
Ordinance shall be in denominations of IL,000.00 each and shall
bear interest, payable semi-annually at the rate of Six per cent,
per annum, both principal and interest payable at the Ban t of

Okeechobee, Okeechobee, Florida, or at the Aeuerican Exchange
National Bank, Bew York City, New York, at the option of the
holder. Said bonds to be dated 1st D. 1924; interest

payable on the First day of and of each and
every year after date of issuance until maturity of said bonds.
The principal of sitid bonds shall be payable as follW.w:
17,000.00 on the First day of D. 1944, and

49,000.00 on the First day of
A. D. 1953; or in case all
the bonds are not authorized then in the same proportion as
nearly as practicable. Said bonds to be numbered from 1 to
inclusive, or in case all of said bonds are not authorized, then
from 1 u2 to and includino, the proper numeral for the amount of
bonds authorized.
Section VII. Should the issuance of said bonds be authorized
by the required vote then the said bonds shall be issued without
delay, and the City Council shall, before such issuance provide
by ordinance for the redemption of said bonds at maturity, and
for the payments of interest upon the same by a tax levy of a
sufficient tax levy of a sufficient millage as may be necessary
for such purpoSe,
Section VIII. If the result of said election provided for
in this ordinance shall be againat the issuance of bonds then
this ordinance shall be null and void.
Section IX. This ordinance shall take effect immediately
upon its passage and approval.

Section LV. The Mayor in hi �rocla ation calling for
the election herein provided shall name three electors of the
City of Okeechobee, who shall act as inspectors of said elec-

Section VI. The bonds isued under the provision of
this ordinance shall be in denominations. of 500.00 each and
shall bear interbst, -payable semi-annually at the rate of six
per cent. per annum, both principal and interest payable at the
Bank of Okeechobee, Okeechobee, Florida, or at the American
Exchanze National Bank, New York City, New York, at the option
of the holder. Said bonds to be dated July 1st, A. D. 1924;
interest payable on the first day of January and July of each
ard every year after date of issuance until maturity of said
bonds. The principal of said bonds shall be payable as follows:
17,000.00 on the first day of July A. D. 1944, and
17,000.00 on the first day of July of each and every year there-
after up to and including the first day of July A. D. 1952, and
4; 19,000.00 on the first day of July, A. D. 1953; or in case
all the bonds are not authorized. then in the same proportion as
nearly as practicable. c Said bonds to be numbered from 1 to
344 inclusive.
Section VII. Should. the issuance of said bonds be author-
ized by the required vote then the said bonds shall be issued
without delay, and the City Council shall, before such issuance
provide by ordinance for the redemption of said bonds at
maturity, and for the payments of' the intereatOpon the
same by a tax levy of a sufficient tax levy of a sufficient

Section VIM If the result of said election provided
for in this ordinance shall be against the. issuance of bonds
then this ordinance shall be null and void.
Section IX. This ordinance shall take effect immediately
