ORDINANCE NO. _4E6_ - AN ORDINANCE TO CONSTRUCT SEWERAGE INCLUDING ALL CONNECTIONS UPON CERTAIN DESIGNATED AVENUES, STREETS, AND ALLEYWAYS, OR PARTS THEREOF, IN THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA, IN ALL ITS DETAILS, AND THE CALLING OF A SPECIAL ELECTION FOR THE APPROVAL OR REJECTION OF THE ISSUANCE OF SAID BONDS BY THE ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CT`Y COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA. Sec. 1. The Mayor and the City Council of the City or Okeechobee, Florida, subject to the provisions of law and this Ordinance, are hereby authorized to issue bonds of said City under the seal of the said Corporation in the amounts and for the purpose of constructing a system of sewerage, including all connections, and in all details, for the purpose of paying the city's portion of such improvement; the balance @g 01om$'de of the said improvements, when complete in all its details, to be ehargea against the abutting property owners in the amount pf one —third of said expenses. Said bonds to be signea by the Mayor, countersigned by the Presiaent of the City Council and attestea by the Clerk of said City with the seal thereof affixed, with interest coupons attached, signed in like manner with the facsimile signatures thereof lithographed on said interest coupons. The amount of said bonds shall be _&poQ_O© for the City's portion, or one —third of the expense of such construction of said sewerage, complete in all its details, including conne'.-ctions, upon such avenues, streets or alleyways or parts thereon' as may hereafter be designatea by the City Council. Sec. 2. The Mayor shall, as soon as practicable, after the passage and approval of this Ordinance, issue his proclamation call- ing a special election for the City of Okeechobee, Florida, to be held not less than thirty nays from the date of waid proclamation, for the purpose of submitting to the electors of said City the approval or rejection of the issuance of the bonds provided for in Sec. 1 of this Ordinance. Said notice shall be publishes in the Okeechobee News, a newspaper published in said city, said call to be published in five succesive issues of said newspaper immediately prior to date of election. The Mayor in his proclamation calling for the election herein provided shall name three electors of the of Okeechobee who shall act as inspectors of said election, and a clerk thereof. Should any of thb inspectors or clerks so appointed fail or refuse to qualify the Mayor is authorized at any time prior to the opening of the polls to name additional inspectors or clerk. The inspectors conducting the eleotion aforesaid shall immediately after the polls have closed count the votes for and against the proposed bond issue and immediately certify the result of same to the City Council. Sec. 5. At the election to be held as provided in this Ordinance only resident electors otherwise qualified under the laws of Florida, being those who own real estaite4in saint C ty and who have paid their taxes last due thereon, and actually voting at said election, shall be entitled to vote. The bonds issued under the provisions of this OrdirAlooe shall be in denominations of $500.008'iearing interest payable semi - nually at the rate of 6% per annum, both principal and interest pay - able at the Bank of Okeecitobee, Okeechobee, Florida, or at the American Exchange National Bank, New York City, New York, at the option of the holder: $aid bonds to be dated April 1, A.D. 1920; interest payable on the first day of October and April of each and every year after date of issuance until maturity of said bonds. The principal of said olope bonds shall be payable as follows: 4500.00 on the first day of April, A.D. 1940 and $500.00 on the first day of April of each and every year thereafter up to and including the first day of April, AD. 1949. Said bonds to be numbered consecutively from 1 to 10 inclusive. Sec. 7. Should the issuance of said bonds be authorized by the required vote then said bonds shall be issued without delay, and. the City Council shall, before such issuance, provide by ordinance for the redemp- tion of said bonds at maturity, and for the payments of the interest upon the same by a tax levy of a sufficient millage as may be necessary for such purpose. .Sec. 8. If the result of the said election provided for in this ordinance be against the issuance of bonds then this ordinance shall be null and void. Sec. 9. and approval.
