AN ORDINANCE CALLING AND PROVIDING FOR THE HOLDING OF AN ELECTION BY
THE REGISTERED VOTERS OP THE CITY OF OKEECHRI N, FLO tl ; ° '01
PURPOSE OF APPROVING OR DISAPPROVING AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING
EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY FROM TiE LIMITS AND JURISDICTION OF
THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA, SAID ORDINANCE BEING ORDINANCE NO.
40 AND WAS PASSED BY THE COUNCIL ON ' 3E 28TH DAY OF JANUARY 1919 AND
APPROVED BY TI?E MAYOR ON THE SAME DAY.
BE IT ORDAINED IY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF "ti?E CITE OF 0h"-' ;C"OBEE,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That an election is hereby called to be held in the City
of Okeechobee, Florida, and in that certain districto r- 15rr1.- +5.,ay, ,of
the City of Okeechobee, Florida, and Which is sought to be excluded
from the limits of the City of Okeechobee, on the 17th day of March,
A. D. 1919, for the purpose of approving or disapproving of an ordinance
providing for the excluding of certain territory from the limits and
juriddiction of the City of Okeechobee.
SECTION 2. That on said day an election shall be held in the terri-
tory sought to be excluded from said limits of the City of Okeechobee,
and which territory is described in said ordinance, Owen Kelly,
C. H. L. Chandler andO. J. Price are hereby appointed as inspectors
of said election to be Ik held in the said territory, and H. L.
Chandler is hereby appointed as the Clerk of said eb ction.
SECTION 3. There shall also be held in the remaining territory of
the City of Okeechobee on the 17th day of March, 1919, an election
and 1i. H. Hancock, Walter Gray and R. E. Mc Laughlin are hereby
appointed inspectors of said election and t. 5. Holmes is hereby
appointed Clerk of said election.
SECTION 4. The question to be submitted to the electors at the said
elections hereby called and provided for shall be:
FOR 'ME APPROVAL OF ORDINANCE NO. 40.
AGAINST fliE APPROVAL OF ORDINANCE NO. 40,
The Council shall furnish sufficient ballots for each elector to
have one ballot to cant at said elections. The form of the ballot
to be used at such election to approve or disapprove ordinance No.
40 providing for the exclusion from the limits and jurisdiction of
the City of Okeechobee, Florida, of certain territory therein described
and designated.

The holding of the election shall be carried on as nearly as can be
done, as provided by ordinance for conducting generaleity elections,
and the returns of the said elec'tione shall be made to the City
Council.
SECTION 5. The said elections herein provided for shall be held
on the 17th day of March, 1919, and the polls shall be opened at
8 o'clock a. m. and dosed at 12 o'clock noon for dinner and opened
again at 1 o 'clock p. m. and kept open until 5 o'clock p. m. of
the same day.
SECTION 6. The inspectors and the Clerk o said elections shall be
paid the same fees per diernas but is paid for similar service n..._
holding general city elections.
SECTION 7, All qualified voters residing in the territory sought to
be excluded shall be entitled to vote in the said elections at the
polling places established in the said territory, and all qualified
voters residing in the remaining t erritory of the City of Okeechobee
shall be entitled to vote in said election and shall cast his vote
at the polling place in said remaining territory.
SECTION 8. The polling place in the territory sought to be excluded
shall be at the Owen Kelley place and for that to be retained, at
the City Hall.
SECTION 9, This ordinance shall go into effect upon its passage and
approval by the Mayor.
Read a first and second time and by unanimous consent passed in
open session this 28th d ay of January, 1919.
