0039 (Mandatory 1 Minute Prayer)ORDINANCE.110. 39 AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING ALL PERSON, OR PERSONS WITHIN THE LIMITS OF THE CITY, WHETHER WALKING, OR RIDING TO STOP, AND WITS HEADS UNCOVERED, REMAIN IN AN ATTITUDE OF PRAYER, FOR ONE MINUTE% FOR THE SUCCESS OF OUR ARMIES. WHEREAS, The United States of America, our beloved Country, is at war, with a foreign power, and it being the desire of the Citizens of the City of Okeechobee, Okeechobee County, State of Florida, to call upon Almighty God for the success of our armies, and as a public expression thereof; and WHEREAS, it has been requested by the Mayor of said City of Okee- chobee, that those in charge of the electric light and power plant, of said city, to sound or cause to be sounded, and having agreed to sound, each evening at Six o'clock sharp, one loud blast of whistle of said plant, to be sounded for the space of one minute continuously from said six o'clock p. m. until six o'clock, and one minute; therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUTNCIL OF 1HE CITY OF OKEE- CFOBEE, OKEECHOBEE COUNTY, STATE OF FLORIDA. Section 1. That all persons within the Corporate limits of the City of Okeechobee at the time of the blowing or sounding of the said whistle, from six oclock p. m. UNTIL ONE MINUTE past six o'clock p. m. as hereinbefore provided, whether walking, riding or sitting, shall come to a full stop, with heads uncovered, and in an attitude of prayer and silence call upon Almighty God for His care, protection and suceess of our Armies in the field, except that ladies shall not be required to removed their hats. Section 2. That any person, or persons, who wilfully fail or re- fuse to obey or carry out the provisions of this ordinance, shall on Conviction thereof be publicly censured by the Mayor for each and every offense.
