AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR A LICENSE TAX TO BE PAID BY THE OWN7q1
OF ALL DOGS AND BITCHES, WITHIN TIE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY
OF OKLECflOBEE, FLORIDA, WFO SHALL KEEP THE SAME WITHIN SAID CITY,
AND PROVIDING FOR TEE ENFORCEMENT OF THIS ORDINANCE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY P MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OP TIE CITY OF
OK7CHOBEE, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. 4ie owner of each dog ir the City of Okeechobee, Florida,
si7m11 pay a license tax on sRid dog in the sum of $1.25 per year
and on each bitch or female doelthe sum of $2.25 per year, the
same to be paid to the City Tax Collector of said city.
SECTION 2. It shall b e the duty of the City to furnish to such
persons procuring the license provided for in Section 1 of this
Ordinance, tag which shall b ear the humber of the license issued
and it shall be the duty of such person who shall purchase such
tas to fasten the same securely around the neck of such dog in
such manner as said tag can be easily inspec#ed.
SECTION 3, it s}'Iallbe the duty of each police °Mawr of the
City of Okeechobee, Florida, after this Ordinance goes into effect
to kill each and every dog and bitch within the said city that A
shall not have fastened around its neck the tag provided for in
this Ordinance.
SECTION 4, WHOever being the owner of any dog mentioned in this
Ordinance shall fail or refuse to procure the license herein
provided for shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction
thereof shall be punished by a fine of not more than $10,0p or
imprisonment in the city jail for not more than 20 days or both,,
at the discretion of the Mayor.
5ECTION 5, This Ordinance shall go into effect upon its passage
and approval and publication as provided for by law.
I hereby certify that the above and foregoing Ordinance was duly
passed by Council in open session on this the 13th day of June, 1916.
