0016 (Ties in an Election)ORDINANCE NO. 16 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR SPECIAL ELECTIONS TO BE CALLED IN CASE OF TIE VOTE FOR HIGIiEST CANDIDATES AT GENERAL ELECTIONS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF ME CITY OF OKEE- CHOBEE, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. Vhen at any general city election there is a tie vote for the two or more A highest candidates for any City office voted for at such election, then it shall be the duty of the Mayor to immediately call and proclaim a special city election. Notice of such election elan be given by posting at the door of the city hall or council chamber for at least ten days prior to the date of said special election. Such election elan be kkitk held solely for the purpose of electing some qualified person to fill the office for which no person was elected at the preceding general election on account of such tie vote. SECTION 2. The registration books shall not be opened for such special election but the registration list of the preceding oral election shall be used. SECTION 3. Such special election shall be held in accordan h laws and ordinances of the City of Okeec0bee es near as ma except as modified by this ordinance. SECTION 4. Only the names of candidates printed on the ballot at the preceding el,ction shallbe printed on the ballot for such special election. Provided, however, that any candidate prior to the actual printing of said ballot for said special eltction shall have the privilege of withdrawing his name as a candidate for the office to be voted for. SECTION 5. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict here- with are hereby repealed. SECTiON 6. This ordinance shallb e in full force and effedt irmediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. Passed December 15, 1915.
