1979-08 (Water Line Extensions)RESOLUTION 79-8 BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, that; WHEREAS, the City of Okeechobee operates a water system within and without the limits of the City of Okeechobee, and; WHEREAS, the system contains numerous fire hydrants, both within and without the corporate limits of the City of Okeechobee and; WHEREAS, the City is required to collect and pay a yearly rental/use fee of $120.00 per fire hydrant regardless of where located, and; WHEREAS, the City is willing and has always paid the charge for all hydrants located within the City limits, and; WHEREAS, the City does not desire to incur the rental/use expenses of fire hydrants beyond it's corporate limits, and; WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the public safety that new extentions of the City's water lines include new fire hydrants, NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved that until such time as a satisfactory assurance of payment for the usage charge of all fire hydrants lying outside the limits of the City of Okeechobee can be made, it is deemed in the best interest of the public safety that no further extentions of the City's water lines shall be made.
