1971-01 (Street Designations)R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, for many years there has been some public
interest expressed for re -naming or numbering street and avenues
within and without the municipal boundaries, primarily for the
purpose of correcting duplicitly in street names and confusion
in numbered street designations, and
WHEREAS, a uniform system of street designations is
recognized as being most desireable, and in the interest of public !i
safety and convenience, and
WHEREAS, the Council recognizes that such a system would
be significantly beneficial only through uniformity both within
and without the municipality, which could only be accomplished
by joint city - county action,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA:
That the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida,
or its designated representatives, meet with the County
Commissioners in joint sessions called for the purpose of
exploring the economic and engineering feasibility of establishing
a uniform system of street designations in the city and the
county, and to establish proportionate allocations of financial,
engineering and construction responsibility.
DONE, RESOLVED and made effective at the regular meeting
of the City Council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, held on
the 23rd day of March, 1971.
