1973-04 (ToTo Conserve Water during drought)R E S O L U T I O N
Whereas, severe drought conditions throughout
Okeechobee County and in the City of Okeechobee are resulting
in high use of city water supplies, creating a water shortage,
and
Whereas, an extreme water shortage may occur unless
water use is curtailed) and
Whereas, upon th✓e existence of such conditions it
becomes imperative to the public well being that certain uses
, of water, not essential to the health, welfare and safety of
the City and its inhabitants be restricted or curtailed; and
Whereas, the use of the munincipal water system for

hose purposes on lawns, streets and gardens is a privilege
expressly held subject to the right of the city to revoke
when the water supply becomes to low to allow the exercise of
such privilege;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF OKEECHOBEE, FLORIDA:
t' By authority of Section 20-31, Code of Ordinances of
the City of Okeechobee, Florida:
The privilege of using the water supply system of the
City of Okeechobee for hose purposes on lawns, streets, and
a
gardens is hereby revoked for all users of the system until
further resolution of the City Council.
Any person using the water supply system for such non-
essential uses shall be subject to their service being discon-
nected by the water department in accordance with ordinances
of the City.
The Mayor of the City of Okeechobee is requested to
bring this Water Use Curtailment Resolution to the Attention
of all of the public by proclamation, broadcast, publication
and otherwise.
DONE, RESOLVED and made effective the 24th day of
May, 1973, at an emergency meeting of the City Council, City
of Okeechobee, Florida.
