A RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE DESTRUCTION OF
1919 STREET PAVING AND WATERWORKS AND BEN ERA GE
BONDS- WHICH WERE PRINTED BUT NOT SOLD OR SIGNED.
Whereas the City council of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, did
on the iOth day of May A D 1919 by resolution duly passed, provide
for the issuance, by said City, of #80.000.00 Street paving and for
$45*000,00 Water Works and Sewerage Bonds,, and .
Whereas* at an election duly called, and held on the Slat day of june
A D 1919, the aforesaid bond Issues were authorized, and . �
Where". in possuanoo,, thereof.. the said bonds were printed, and
advertized for sale.but on account of the change in the date of the
issuance of the news paper that the notice of election was published
in, thereby causing a failure of the sale, and acceptance of said bonds
and .
Whereass the said bonds have never been signed, and it being the desire
of the said City Counwil, to cancel the said resolution, and also to
destroy the said bonds, therefore,
Be It Resolved, that all resolutions, ordinances, or parts thereof
in connection with the.said bond issue, above stated, be and the same
are hereby repealed, and it is . further,
Resolved, that the aftresaid bonds, be . and the City Council are
hereby instructed, and required to , destroy by burning with fire the
said $80.000.,00 Street Paving Bonds of 1919 issue, and numbered from
1 to 160 inclusive, also the $45.000.00 Water Works and Sewerage Bonds
of issue of 1919 numbered from 1 to 90 inolusive.and that the same be
done in open session on this date.
It is certified, by the following undersigned members of the City Council
of the City of Okeechobee, Florida, that they did on this date in open
session of the said City council, count the aforesaid bonds and that
immediately thereafter, they did in accordance with this resolution
destroy each and every one of the aforesaid bonds,, by burning the same
with fire, and that the same were destroyed in open session, and in
the presanoe of each of us.. and that there were so destroyed Street
Paving bonds from 1 to and including 160, and of Water Works and Sewerage
Bonds from I to 90 inclusive, and they further certify, that all of the
aforesaid destroyed bonds bad attached to them, al of the original coupons
attached at the time they were destroyed, and that the same were destroyed
together with the aforesaid bonds.
