1939-07 Purchase of fire equipmentOouncilmm Culbreth presented the following Resolution and moved its adoption. Upon r being seconded by Councilman Brass and put to a vote, Resolution was unanimously :adopted: R E S 0 L U T 1 0 N WHEREAS9 the City Council has adopted a Resolution whereby suitable fire equipment is to be purchased and Installed in said City, and WHEREASt tfie purchase price of said equipment is Two Thousand Two Hundred Fifty ($2,250-00) Dollars, to be paid as follows: $750.00 on or before March 1, A. D. 1940, and the bal- ance in three installments of $500-00 each, due one, two and three years from March 1, A. PD. 1-946, with interest at the rate of 6% per annum, and WHEREAS, the City of Okeechobee participates each year in the Road and Brifge Fund of the County of Okeechobee in an amount of approximately $250-00 per annum, and WHEREAS, this Council is without funds with which to make the total down payment on the fire equipment to be purchased and unless such equipment is installed immediately the fire in- surance rates now in effect in said City will increase thirty five to forty per cent and WHERFASj this Council believes it to be to the beat interest of said City that adequate fire protection be given as soon as possible, NOW� THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by this Council that the Board of County Commissioners of Okeechobee County, Florida be, and they are hereby, requested to cooperate with the City Council by underwriting the cost of said fire equipment by making a pay- ment of $500-00 on or before the first day of March, A. D. 1940 and underwriting the balance of the purchase price with the authority to apply that portion of the Road and Bridge Fund due said City for the years 19402 1941 and 1942 on the purchase of said Fire Equipment and the said Board of said County Commissioners is hereby authorized to apply the said Road and Bridge Funds due the City on the pur- chase price of said fire equipment as the same becomes due and pay- able. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be delivered to the Board of County Gommissioners with the request that they take action as soos as possible.
