1944-05 Designation of Bee Line Hwy from Tampa to WPBC. 06ELir-u
A RESOLUTION BY
Be it Resolved, that we most earnestly request that the
3tate Road Department of Florida, and the Bureau of Public
Roads of the United States, place in the preferential category
for Federal jid System and to be included in the designated
inter -Regional Route and National hi-hway System, for post-war
construction, a route leading from Tampa by way of Sebring
and Okeechobee to West Palm Beach, known and designated by law,
as the Bee Line Highway.
The reasons for this request being that, said route will
benefit the greatest number of vehicles traversing cross -wise
the State of Florida and between its greatest populated centers
and through the rich citrus belt of Florida. It will also act
as a feeder to north and south routes through the State and
greatly shorten distances between all points in South iclorida.
It will greatly facilitate the transportation of agricultural
products produced around t.ile Lake Okeechobee region, thus
enabling growers of vegetables a shorter route to the North,
or to the ports on the East Coast and West Coast of Florida.
